Default Oil on the clutch housing bolts?? BAD RMS?

So, as I've posted, I'm about about 2 bolts away from pulling out my clutch bell housing. I've removed the two bolts on the passenger side, but I can't figure out how to get to the 2 on the driver side.

Anyways, when I pulled the 2 bolts on the passenger side they were covered in oil, or some type of fluid. Is that normal, or is my RMS leaking? Could that be the cause of my shifting problems?

Thanks,

Matt

bottom left side should be easy..there's nothing blocking it. top left might be tricky. u may need a bent offset or something to get to it.

Okay. I must be blind. I only see one Bolton the drivers side close to the starter cables above where the slave cylinder mounts...is this the top or the bottom??

I don't have a turbo, so the intake manifold did not need to be removed. I have removed the exhuast, the transmission, pulled the torque tube back. I took out both sensors AND removed the ground wire. I was able to climb on top of the car and remove the top most bell housing bolt. How in the world am I supposed to get to this D@MN bolt right next to all of the brake lines?

I've broken 2 universal joints and 3 ratchets so far!

lol. The funny thing IS I HAD a 200 and something piece NICE craftsman mechanics tool kit that got scattered ALL over the house by my 4 year old brother...so actually they are $5 tools from autozone. LMAO. But still there HAS to be a way to get this bolt out. The german engineers got it in there!

I don't quite understand your post but if you are saying oil that is on the top bolts on the bell housing, I'd assume rear cam seal before RMS.

On the bolts and outside of bell housing I would look at the rear cam seal (the cap at the back of the cam tower), the cam tower seal (look above the headers and you can see any leaks) and the lower balance shaft seal at the back of the balance shaft.

Use a block of wood to cushion the oil pan (up near the front end of the pan) and jack it up a half inch or so. With the TT disconnected and pulled back, the engine will rotate slightly on the engine mounts and cause the aft end to move down and a little further away from the firewall tunnel. If the fit is still no good, disconnect the steering shaft from the rack and loosen the cross member bolts to drop the cross memeber a half inch or so (do not remove the bolts)...
