Default MAF options (which ones are worth the money?)

I've seen a lot of buzz on MAF's and conversions. The biggest deal being on quality and accuracy. I've also noticed a lot of people selling their MAF's and kits for different ones. So my question is, which MAF is worth the money and what others are not? I'm not looking for pure opinion. I just want to know what people have had success with and what doesn't work well.

There's LR, VR, D9 and a few others. Not sure, at this point, which one I want to go with.

not much experience w/ LR mafs, Vitesse is the best IMHO - i thought russel berry's Max951 maf was great until i started going bigger turbo etc...if you plan on using the stock turbo forever its great. Then i went to Vitesse.

I have the Russel Berry (MaxHPKIT.com) Scivision MAF on my car right now, and as far as it goes for now it is great... true plug and play... just plug in to the Diagnostic port (12VDC) the AFM plug and go... I am also running it with the SFR(?) J Pipe rather then the stealth adapter for the stock airbox...

I gotta give props to Vitesse. Not only is it very high-quality and by most accounts the best one available - John's support is second to none. With the Vitesse MAF and piggyback you can pretty much get your car exactly where you want it. You can even grab a MAP sensor and boost solenoids from him and dial it all in with the piggyback - including the ability to limit boost (so, basically a EBC included).

If you want high quality with both the product and support, go with Vitesse. John's been helping me a bunch getting my car squared away and quite frankly, most of it - if not all of it - has nothing to do with his MAF (other than the problems appeared after I installed it). I've been troubleshooting a ground issue and trying to dial in my AFR and John's been there every step of the way. Can't say how much that's worth exactly - but I feel so far it was some of the best $$ I've spent on my car.

I've got an Autothority kit on the way, for a great price. Anyone have any opinions about these?

Nope, But dyno likes it though.. I'm trying to wait to Dyno as I have done several other changes to the car (55lb injectors, 3bar FPR, custom fuel and ignition maps that still need some more fine tuning.. now that I have my knock counter installed) manual boost controller (car is very nice at 14PSI)... I might dyno her once the mod train stops... strike that... IF the mod train stops...

Didn't even think about the Authority MAF. That might be a good option. I'm just looking for something affordable that does the job well. I'm certain that the software is what makes these things golden. That and the customer service when you get someone that will help you when you need it.

I'm almost local to LR, but I know of a lot of people that get their MAF and later replace it with another. I'm not sure why.

Steal of a deal indeed, although I'm curious to know why you are selling the kit? Upgrading possibly?

I'm probably gonna try to pick that MAF off your hands then. Sounds like a good deal, and it will satisfy what I need right now. What should I do about tuning?

I always thought the Vitesse MAF kit was way overpriced (sorry John!) until I got a used kit for $630 shipped (thanks Lorax.) Now after the install and subsequent 13k miles in 5 months I feel its worth what it costs new and at the price I paid ...could not be happier.

FWIW, I am a cheapass and for me to admit something that expensive is worth it is kinda rare
