Thumbs up Beat the speeding ticket!

Believe it or not, I beat the speeding ticket today! I'm just trying to help those in the same situation as me.

Well, I went about a half and hr early to get a chance to talk to the prosecutor. I get there, and the placed was somewhat getting crowded. I went through the court doors, and I sat down. After ten minutes or so, the prosecutor showed up, and he took his seat in front of the court. He began by calling names, but by time he was going to call my name it was going to be hours. I did the same thing all the lawyers did, and just stood on the line. As I was on the line, he called my name. I went up to the guy, and greeted myself in a dignified fashion, and he seemed pretty down to earth. I told him my point of the story, and I was guilty of the ticket, and that I just wanted the points removed. He told me he could only drop two points, unless the officer would offer to have them dropped. So, he offered me to take the two points, but I wasnt their for 2, I wanted all 4 dropped. I sat down, and after 5 minutes, I got back on the line because I wasn't going to let it go. As soon as I got to him, I gave him a excuse, and asked him to help me out. So he looks at me, and goes, "I swear I wouldnt do this if you werent so aggressive." I thanked him, and I sat down. As I was sitting down, a friend of my dad who's a cop saw me, and he took the ticket. He found the guy who gave me the ticket, and told him to drop the points. The cop who stopped me went up to the prosecutor, and asked him to pull off all the points, but the prosectuor told him he already did. The judge finally called my name, and I stood in front of the court, and I addressed him correctly, and I acted appropiate. He started saying all this law stuff, and asked if I pleaded guilty, and I did. He gave me a total of $180 to pay, and all the points were dropped. I shook the prosectors hand and paided and left.

The other cases were similar to mine, but a bit worse. Their was a guy who did reckless driving, and speeding in one shot, and got off with all the points except two. Another was with a guy, and running a red light, he got off all the points. Next, a guy who had no insurance and the cop stopped him, got off with all the points, but they needed proof he had insurance on it now.

Two to three months from today's date. Stop trying so hard to contradict me. It's not going to work. Instead of holding a grudge against me, get over it. Everyone else is acting pretty cool, and you keep dragging this on bro. Let it go.

now I am totally confused, you knew on the 25th that your court date was postponed 3 months, So why were you on the docket for today? and if it was delayed 3 months why show up today?

Courts are very specific was is 2 months or 3?

I am not trying to contradict you, you are doing that to your self.

I am looking for clarity.

I made a post during the beginning of may stating I had a court date. The date was postponed from the beginning of may, to the end of july.

Amaf,
I hope you spoke better english to the judge than you wrote. You didn't beat the ticket, you got a bye on this one because you showed proper respect to the people working in the court.

Your history will be on file for a few years, you probably wont get a bye next time.

Question

Uhhhh, what am I missing here? I thought that this thread was regarding "Beating Tickets" but it sounds more like a grudge match...Whatever is going on sounds silly and like it should be addressed maybe in a more personal, PM, way... <img src="graemlins/icon501.gif" border="0" alt="[icon501]" />

can't you go to a defensive driving school and get those points removed? 16-17 points in GA would mean no licence for a year

I have an idea; instead of worrying about beating speeding tickets, how about trying to not drive like a spazz on public streets and save that boy-racer **** for track days?

First - I'll clarify, I've never really street raced, ever.

Second - I'll say I've had soo many points on my record, I could take off my shoes and still not be able to count that high!

The traffic court judge in my area knows my NAME. Most the cops know my car. Remember Cheers? Except in this case, I don't like to go where everyone knows my name

Even still, a good excuse has gotten me out of HALF my tickets at the court (I have never gotten out of them while being pulled over, and I never try). The more you go to court, the easier all this will become.

And for all those people who say stop driving like a spaz, I have some comments for you. At any rate, the two highest tickets I have ever received were for 17 and then 13 over the limit (the 17 was me not paying attention). If driving 13 over (and most my tickets are for 10) is being a spaz, then I think this whole world needs to be put down. Tickets aren't about not speeding, they're about not getting caught.

AMEN!
The best thing I have to keep my speed down is knowing that my Guards Red 944 is a target for police: that alone keeps me at or near the speed limit!

BTW: PreryDog: there is a great different between driving 13 over the speed limit and driving recklessly 13 over the speed limit. Not judging you or your driving, it's just that cops normally don't stop people going 13 over the limit, but they do stop reckless drivers, regardless of how much over the limit they are.

Getting off my soapbox,
-Zoltan.

to the speed limit disciples, why don't you buy a different type of car. I'm thinking geo metro or somesuch econo box.

I mean you shouldn't be speeding so you really don't need a performance car anyway.

Why does everyone assume that someone receiving a speeding ticket is a reckless driver that was racing others and endangering your mother and children?
