i have a 85.5na with an auto its fun to drive but needs an upgrade. not enough speed and its an auto, but the body and interior are in perfect condition. i recently picked up a 968 with 135k that has rear end damage, not sure the extent of it yet. but am looking into swapping the engine and trans, if possible suspension and brakes. I'm hoping its a pretty straight forward job since i will have both cars side by side. any advice or incite would be appreciated.
thanks

youll have to arrange for a clutch pedal to be installed along with the slave and master cylinders and lines and stuff, however you might be able to steal that from the 968.
if you swap the engine you should swap the 6spd tranny or find a 944 turbo or S2 5spd because the 944 automatic will disintegrate with the torque output of the 968 motor.

ive got an automatic as well, and its alot of fun too. the trans will prob give you the most trouble, it will prob be straight forward, since you have the cars side by side. the 968 ---> S2 motor i much more common.

It should swap pretty well. You'll need to swap the axles and shift lever as those are unique to the six speed. The 968 torque tube too. The speedometer wont work though. The 968 speedo gets the signal from the abs and not the tranny.

Oazix, if you don't have a copy of PET yet, get one. It's usually free. Spend a few hours - maybe a weekend - cross referencing parts between the two cars, and you'll get a very good idea about what's interchangeable.
As far as I know, the suspension pickup point are all the same. But you'll probably need the later offset (968 suspension) to work with the axles, brakes, etc.
I'd say the biggest headache might be plumbing the radiator (I think the 968 one is mounted a little differently) and/or getting the ECU integrated.
Good luck!
