Default Places to pull 12v non-switched in cabin?

I need 12v non-switched for my power lock setup but can't seem to find a good source. At first I had them hooked up to my cigarette lighter since I never use it and then the wiring to that broke so I jumpered it off my clock which caused problems of its own.

Short of running a fused line straight from the battery (which I could easily) where else can I pull power from?

I pulled non-switched power for my Traqmate from the cabin dome light wires.

Is your '85 an early or late? On late cars it's a no brainer - central electic board (AKA fuse panel) unscrews from the top with the plastic tower screws and you can pull it up to get acess. On the front, you'll find a couple of lugs connecting directly to the battery+.

On the early cars, it kind of the same thing. I recall there are some pretty heavy red wires back there feeding everything. Looking at the wiring diagram, any relay connector terminal marked 30 is generally a direct battery feed; radio relay, fog light relay, hazzard switch, fuse 4 (25 amp) on the secondary board for the rear defoger might be a good source.

Yes, the defogger only works with the ignition, because the switch that energizes the relay gets power from a switched circuit. The relay gets power from fuse #4 on the secondary board which is a direct feed from the battery. There should be a pin labeled 30 on the relay, connected to that is a big, thick (4mm diameter) white wire with a red stripe. That's the hot connection.
