I got a complete race rebuild (machine work) for around 4k including sleeving a block, crank polish and balance, rings, main and rod bearings, full head job with valve guides, and assembly of the bottom end (crank, pistons, rods, girdle. They also cleaned everything and magnafluxed it all, but I had done the disassembly prior to drop off.

I picked up the pieces and completed all the rest of the assembly myself. And I still paid for gaskets, etc. Most of my hoses were good but I bought a lot of new nuts and bolts and such. Probably have a bit over 5K in it, and other than the sleeves it is pretty much stock.

JE pistons would run me another $800 but I decided against them... will see if things hold up this way. If not, I'll likely need them for the next motor! At least the first weekend out, even though the car obviously needs some more tweaks, I cut over half a second off my previous best with my tired old motor.

Swank,

How did you sleeve? Steel? Dartons? Did you reuse the stock pistons?

Any info is appreciated.
