NA is not the way to go if you want a powerful 944. if you had a turbo car to start with, for $1700 you could get it to 300whp with some parts from lindsey racing (http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/951PACK300.html). thats probably the same amount youd spend on custom high CR pistons and rods alone.

Assuming we start with an 83 motor this is what you would need..
good EMS (piggyback or standalone) 1500 - 3000
custom high compression pistons (14:1) - 1000
High octane fuel
Those are the essentials, but you could also look at things like a well worked head for high RPM's, ITB's, etc etc. All at a much higher cost.

yea and after about $10,000 and countless hours youll have a nifty car that still gets passed by stock turbos lol

Trust me, I know it's impractical as long as we have turbo's. I have a turbo remember??

Well yes Litespeeds thats what to do, I'm with you. You could sell it and buy a Mustang, good bang for the buck . I know it's not a 944 . I enjoy driving my 944 the speed limit is ?? Well good luck and have fun.

Right, but he did not ride in it in 1979, he rode in it recently.
(I actually learned to drive in a 1978 928, it was my first car. Seemed fast then. Slow as can be by today's standards).
......and 1960s American cars would run away from the 928 in a straight line if we are just talking power.

A 1979 Corvette had ~200hp. Thats it. For the day, the 928 was significantly faster. But by todays standards, not fast.

I had a guy come up to me the track on Saturday and he told me that he had an 86 with a supercharger. Based on his description it was a whipple-type that was installed where the airbox originally was located. He said he used a cone filter but said nothing more than that.
I should have pressed him for more but... I was trying to get ready to race!
