The Magic 200 HP for NA?
I drove my friends 1979 928 and that thing is scary fast, burnouts through the first 3 gears! Just wish my 944 was just as fast. Since mine is an 83 I cant install a chip or anything to help, but I am thinking of Bursch headers/ cat bypass/ steelpak exhaust, an aluminum flywheel and a 3 bar fuel pressure regulator. I know there isnt much left to do for cheap besides that but maybe someone has the secret to a 200 horsepower NA. What can I do to create more torque also?

Um.. Hard.
If someone had able to build a 200hp n/a it would have been done and re-done numerous times. I've heard of one or two producing in excess of 200+ hp but their owners had dumped in excess of $30,000 into their vehicles. Definitely not worth it.
You're best bet at making your car faster is tearing out everything but the seats and steering wheel.

A 944S has 188 hp. The best upgrade is to remove as much weight as possible from the car. It is going to be really expensive to try and even come close to 200hp from an NA. Getting lower gearing will help on the torque and acceleration. My 1988 944 NA with semi-stripped down interior feels faster than my 1987 944S with full interior. However, when I get the revs up higher above 5K, the 944S starts to pull harder.

If you want to make your 944 faster, stay out of a 928. Even the slow ones are fast.
Check out the 928 Specialist supercharger kits and picture yourself plastered to the seat with $800 worth of z-rated smoke behind you.

There was an article in excellence recently about a tube frame 944 racer with a 16v NA motor that made a documented 350 hp.
They spent a ton of money on that though, and i think it was a factory backed effort.
For us mortals, there are the above options, or another option is the SFR supercharger kit. It won't be an NA any more, but you can get up over 200hp

Hard to imagine bothering building your own 200hp NA when the factory already did, fitted it with a trans that can stand up to the HP, better brakes, and it even has lots more torque which a modded 2.5L won't have. Plus you cannot hope to save money over just selling the NA and getting the car you want.

If you want a fast car in a straight line then the 944 is NOT for you. The "REAL MAGIC" of driving your almost 30 year old P-car is in the tight and twisties. You will be surprised at just how fast you can go!!!

People build High power N/a race motors all the time, just not around here because we have
TUUURRRBOOOOOSSSS
but it's not imposible, not as difficult as building a 400-500rwhp turbo motor.
It is very impractical though. Unless you have a sick obsession with N/A motors of you are trying to work around some class regulations or something there is no point.
