naw; don't make it more complicated than what is minimally required:

Honda vs Porsche 4 cylinder power plant:

small friendly fart can sewing machine with modern engine management vs petulant, often ungodly-expensive,
large, angry lawnmower with cantankerous, ancient, '80s engine management, functioning at the margins.

968 motor: halfway to F-car land, but still, assloads of fun.

.

engine worked well in first race, was fastest street legal tire guy for our series out of 22 drivers in both starts. next race is on track where horsepower is business so trying to get some extra out. Hopefully it will stay durable. light car is terrific to drive in corners and braking.

Noahs944 - ITB stuff is following - fabricate custom adapter btw block and ITB. We used local Rewon motors (http://www.rewonmotors.fi) - guess they still have the jig for the job. Still, I'd change few stuff if we would do it again, as for example 2nd spark plug is really nasty to get into, and also I'd propably change the design that intake filter would't be so close against brake booster. Maybe cut the bonnet and make ITB to 45' degrees - dunno. Or then do the 9Meister style to angle the ITB's forwards - might be difficult for the throttle syncro links...? still, there's room for rethinking. ITB itself is jenvey - cant recall the diameter by heart but maybe 44mm intake per cylinder? Then throttle link is customed by Jenvey link as intake adapter (again) was done so that ITB's are so far away from each other so we had to lenghten the "stick" that combines each throttle pair. so far it works well, no issue. Air filter is normal pipercross 4-1 foam - we tried their nice looking intake box but it didnt' last more than 2 race days so It's not worth using. If we get rid of brake booster at some point then I'd make aluminum plenum with intake from the left front fender...

Dunno if ITB is really needed. At least they help in getting fast throttle response. Maybe good stock intake (dunno what they flow) could also give good figures. Dyno and test different setups would be the key. Guess nobody has time and effort to test.
At least ITB engine sounds better that with normal intake so its a big bonus.

Regarding balance shaft removal kit - dunno. they we're blocked by the guy who did the steel sleeves and did all mechanical bits to the engine 2013. Guess you can go both ways- fabricate custom plates or use aftermarket kit. guess you also have to block (not necessary, but worth?) the oil channel that comes to the balance shafts as its not longer needed?

I've been doing dyno testing of my 944 with each incremental change to see what the gain is.

So far I've gone from stock US-spec 143hp to 160HP with a MAF, adjustable cam gear, and some tuning. Torque is even higher.

Send me your ITB's and I'll test for you
