I'm planning on deleting the AC on my S2 as it gets about 80% track use. Anyone done an AC delete without bracket? How did you tension the belt?
Is there anywhere you can get the bracket cheaper than around $160?

I have a Lindsey Racing AC delete bracket and the belt posted in this section for $130. Looks like shipping would be $12.30 via USPS international flat rate small box, 6-10 day delivery. Let me know if you are interested.

I did it without a bracket. A little over a year later with AX, short trips and road trips, no problems, no squeaks. Michael

There is a write up on the 944Spec site on a bracketless A/C delete.

Another AC delete without the bracket car -- had that done earlier this year prior to the start of the AX/DE season. So far, two track events - no issues.
I had my mechanic do it - you just need to find the right size belt, and it appears to be an easy task.

I deleted mine now but initial I retained the AC bracket. I removed the AC compressor and bolted the Alternator in its place. Then connected the adjuster to the alternator. And it worked fine with the standard non AC belt. However I decided to use the correct bracket as I was not comfortable with a lowered alternator. (closer to the ground more chance to get wet and die)
