I rebuilt my 968 motor and I wasn't getting oil pressure while cranking it. I said F it and just turned it on, and I got oil pressure instantly.

yeah f*$% it usually works

Someone else suggested earlier in the thread that you might just need to spin the motor faster like when you crank to start.

I went through the same thing with a motor that I rebuilt, spent hours on trying to get the oil pressure up. finally started it up and pressure right away.
