I almost purchased set for my '86. Thought the weight on them would be a little high.

Replaced my brake hoses, not a bad job at all. I used the DOT-compliant braided hoses from Pelican. Bleeding will have to wait til tomorrow.

I finally drove my car. I drive it in work after having had it down for repairs for nearly a year.

Nice to drive it again.

I just check my service records.

Last entry 141,225 - Oil Change 3/14/2010

This entry 141,425 - Rod bearings, motor mounts, ball joints, t-belt, front crank seal, battery - 3/6/2011.

1 frigging year and 200 miles At least I was smart and decided not to change the oil filter.

They are indeed cayenne wheels. For the price I couldn't pass them up. $225 for the set with center caps. (I was able to do local pickup on ebay auction.)

As for the ACOGs, for the right price anything is for sale!

The weight is pretty high, 50lbs per tire/wheel. On the other hand, they're just for around town, I still own my phone dials for fun days.

Tracked down and fixed a coolant leak. Turned out to be on the temp sensor above the upper balance shaft.

Any fears of using an aluminum crush washer in this spot?

Its still in the garage waiting for the snow to melt but I did buy a set of knock off Cup II wheels although they will need refinishing before they get used.

Replaced the hood struts and cleaned up the engine a bit. Trunk struts arrived tonight so will install those next, then I'll have a custom Porsche propping-stick no longer serving a purpose :P

Ran it for a few minutes in the garage to move the oil a bit until it comes out of the garage for the spring. Must have a bit of an oil leak since it cooked a bit of oil off the pipes for a few minutes. Also put it up onto wheel dollies to move it around a little easier and make extra space in the garage. Noticed that it has ANSA exhaust while I was under there.

Researched belt and water pump kits since the previous owner didn't have a record of it so I want to do it asap. Anyone have any recommendations where to/not to buy? I'm looking at the one on 944online as a good option, just want to confirm the belt make with them and then I think I'll order.

Addiction growing...

red951....its your car, but here's my advice:

-get a Zims rebuilt (updated with shield and) waterpump...2 yr warranty
-get the updated roller kit with belts too (BOTH belts)
-get the flywheel lock and flat wrench from Bruce Arnn at Arnnworx

..oh, and enjoy!

I'm using an aluminum one there right now with no issues.

Any concerns with hatch glass separation with the installation of the new hatch struts? I've considered replacing mine as well as they seem to have given up the ghost this winter, but have pretty much decided against it after doing quite a bit of reading here. I have a bit of separation at the top of the hatch already and I've read that new struts will expedite the demise...

My stainless hatch pins from rennbay arrived yesterday. New hatch seal is supposed to be here today. Hopefully that will take care of the exhaust fumes when I put the window down.

EJZero1, I think the PO put new hatch struts on my car. They look new at least and work really good. I don't have any separation issues but when I open the hatch I let it up really slowly so that it doesn't put too much pressure on it. Seems like every thread I've read tho says that new struts expedite the separation issue.

Thanks. Didn't think there would be a problem but I do recall a lugnut seizing to my Fuchs one time so bad that we had to drill the nut off.

Going to install new aluminum glove door brackets today, neaten up the battery compartment, install a new catch valve on the windshield washer hose (should have ordered all new hose while I was at it), and new Speedline caps on the wheels instead of the black Porsche caps. May put the crossdrilled rotors on all 4 corners too.

Yeah, I've read about that too... but the thought of having that hatch pop open when I hit the release button in the cockpit is too tempting not to try it! My hatch doesn't leak so I'm hoping it's in good enough shape to handle the extra pressure.

Mind you, I tried to compress the new struts and, damn they're stiff!! I guess we'll see..
