My car had a sticker price of over $53k in 1991. If you account for inflation that means my vehicle would be selling for over $82k today. Not cheap by anyone's standards.

I know when 944s first came out though in 1983 they were priced at a touch under $20k. Still a lot of dough back then though.

*sigh*

No joke. yesterday evening on my way home I got chased by...

...a prius.

It was suburban route99 thru downtown Seattle and I finally shook him off at 90mph, but he hung in there for a few miles.

Nice to see a prius being driven with some passion.

with the huge bump up in sticker prices, i can't for the life of me understand how Porsche wasn't the richest car company on earth when the '91 recession hit..... comparing similar cars available today, do you all realize what 330 hp G37 sells for new? about 43~45 k delivered. adjusted for inflation, that's about 1/2 what an S2 cost .... they're like some of the only sports coupes near that price point that i would ever bother with.... kind of an eye opener. nice cars for sure. and i'll bet a 400~425 hp could be had from a G37 without breaking the bank. V2, what am i missing?

My car gets a lot of attention too!

Some of my friends hate it, because they have these High Power (350+hp) Saab Viggens, or Brand New GTIs.. and my car is 25 years old with less than 150hp, but gets all the attention...

Fact is that 95% of all people know nothing about cars; To them: my car is a Rare Bright Red Sports Car, and is probably either a Porsche or Ferrari... $$$

But I also like my car, and stop to check it out all the time!

My fiance drove my 951 the other day. She is pretty at it now. At Quik Trip a guy was checking her out. As he was leaving the store(before me) he said "Nice Car". She just laughed. When she told me I just laughed about it. So I would say they do get some attention.

I don't really get much attention. I stopped by to see some former co-workers recently and they asked if i had any toys. "Yeah I'm playing with a little Porsche now..." They lit up.."what, a PORSCHE!!" The car was out front so i said yeah it's in the parking lot...when they walked up to it "oh....that Porsche" and walked away. If it wasn't a 911 they didn't care.

yeah i get asked alot at gas stations what model it is due to the badges being removed, i had two teens argue if it was an rx7 or a corolla and it has been mistaken for and old celica, honda, and my favorite nissan 240? mostly though the people say stuff like nice rims or nice paint.

A lot of attention in my red NA in this little hick town. Everybody was always staring. Not another one like it for a while. Then a couple weeks ago I added a black 951 to the corral, now everyone's messed up. Same driver, different car. WTF?!

i think your last sentence is so true. If its not a 911, most people dont care or even know its a porsche. Most people only know the 911 and the new models, not the cool models that saved Porsche's *** in the 1970-90's
