JayVee where in MA are you?
And I work at Advanced Auto Parts so there is always people coming in saying "whose got the Yellow car out there?". Havnt had one person know what kind of car it was though.
One day some kid with a 944 Turbo came in, and I tried to start conversation about it. He wasnt nearly as intrested as I was and pretty much said nothing and left.....hate people like that haha, we are supposed to be a community that share in the 944, he needed more spirit! His 951 was lame ayways....everything was painted white, spoiler too..and he had to open his car from the passenger side! Told him I had a door handle I could sell him, but he got one on Ebay. And he didnt even know about rennlist!

many people think my 951 is the one and only model given the name of "the poor man's Porsche" which is usually the 924. I don't think any of them were cheap > they are not cheap if they are still driving on the road today unlike all the other cars of the 80's!!!

Nor were they cheap in price. Were still talking $30-$50k MSRP in the 80s, for n/a's on the low end and 951s with lux appointments on the high end.

YES. I've had a few people follow me for a little while. Other Porsche drivers seem to notice me, and a few 911's and a couple 944's have driven next to me as we checked each other's cars out.
Just last night I had a female (Very gorgeous I might add) in a Silver Cayman S follow me onto and off of the highway, then slowly cruise past my car while staring the whole time. I know Porsches look good in black, but something about this car makes it look stunning at night. That's when I get the most looks.
HOWEVER, I'm also plagued with hoards of little race-rocket cars trying to get some street action. I had a Mitsu 3k GT mash the throttle after cruising next to me for almost a mile. Clearly wanted to see if I'd bite.
Every time I take it out for more than 5-10 minutes, I usually have someone in a pony car of some sort trying to line up. I think it's the exhaust. It howls at certain RPM's and gurgles at others. Has a pretty commanding sound for a 4 cylinder.
I've had fun with some people a couple times, just screwing around. One guy in a 5.0 with his buddy in the car was jouncing his throttle at me, so I backed it down a couple gears and gave it enough gas to open the wastegate for a playful hiss, which is open-dump at this time. He kinda stopped after that, but we both smiled.
This car seems to get a lot of attention. Some good, and some bad. I've gotten some shouts and smiles as well as some smirks and snarls.
BTW, I was flashed by a couple of chicks while sitting at a stoplight, just about a month ago. They were really cute too. The driver revved her Camaro at me afterward as they both smiled. I was happy...

I haven't been getting much attention of late as I have had most of the interior out dealing with door handles, window lift mechanism, new sound system (which was installed today!), and clutch master/slave cylinder replacement and she has been hanging in the garage all spring.
But she is out today!!! Finally!!! I had her washed up and stopped to get gas after leaving the sound shop and several people were doing double takes as I rolled in. Went in to grab a bottle of water and the guy on the pump next to me had come over to do a walk around..."great looking car" he says. I politely thanked him but inside I thought "damn right it's a good looking car". I love this car and glad she is back in one piece...for now of course
Here is looking forward to a good weekend of driving

I used to get the "Nice Ferrari" thing a lot in my guards red 944, I live in a suburb of Chattanooga, TN and at the time I had the only 944 in the area.
Now that I have my 951 in silver gray metallic I don't get the Ferrari confusion, but get a whole lot more attention for some reason. At least once or twice a week I will get people who stop on the sidewalk and turn around to watch me drive by.

One time at a stoplight I had my ex girlfriend with me and the windows were down, some guy pulled up and started telling me how nice my car was and told her that she better hold on to me with a car like that... haha I don't think she took that to heart
