Default adj. fuel settings

I have an adj. fuel pressure reg. and guage from Lindsey. I am running this on a 86 944 n/a race car. No cat, no muffler, MSDS headers, airbox w/k&n filter, chip. My question is before I get on the dyno does anyone know a good pressure starting set point? I run leaded 110 power mist race fuel, too...

35-37psi w/o vacuum line hooked up to start...it will probably need ~ 40 depending on the chip

What does the chip call for?
Best to have a WBO2, and adjust as necessary...

Clark's Garage has a decent write up on checking fuel pressure, some of the specs below...

Fuel Pressure Specifications

All 8V 944s and 944 Turbos
Engine Stopped - Relay Jumpered 2.5 bar +/- 0.2 bar (36 psig +/- 3 psig)
Engine Running at Idle 2 bar +/- 0.2 bar (29 psig +/- 3 psig)
20 Minute Leakdown Pressure 1 bar (14.5 psig)

All 16V 944s
Engine Stopped - Relay Jumpered 3.8 bar +/- 0.2 bar (55 psig +/- 3 psig)
Engine Running at Idle 3.3 bar +/- 0.2 bar (48 psig +/- 3 psig)
20 Minute Leakdown Pressure 2 bar (29 psig)

Thanks guys, I'll be installing my innovative O2 sensor/gauge before the next race. I don't have any info on the chip that came with the motor. I would like to get a close setting and the run the car and adjust. I am also thinking about having a new chip made from Russell.

Good starting point....look at the A/F and adjust as close as you can then use that data to burn a chip based on A/F over the RPM range.

What else has been done to the motor?? 110 octane seems high for an na, even worked over. Would be interested to see dyno results, would be happy to share mine.

Might also help dyno numbers adding a little back pressure to the exhaust.

Ted, The engine has 2 race weekends on it in ITS form. I purchased it complete, ecu, afm, long block. I run a 3" Lindsey straight exhaust, MSDS header, 944 air box with a 3" tube with an opening behind the 951 foglight. I run a 3qt. accusump, Lindsey oil cooler and breather with flowed injectors. I race the car @ Road America in SVRA's group 8 vintage class and have good success with it last year. Car is basically a 944 n/a ITS car, but built from a 1986 951 tub. 2450#. P.S., the fuel I buy if nothing crazy, just the only race pump fuel available in my area...
