BH1, where are you Chiangmai? There is not much around, but you can get everything. Become a member on www.club911thailand.net and ask for stuff there, you'll be amazed how helpful they are. Furthermore I think you should have a look www.euroclubrace.com also a thai group for European cars. Also helpfull people who are able to get stuff from Japan (junkyards) quite good, if you're not in a hurry. I've got a 83 944 suspension for you if you want.... ;-)
See you there....

Very nice, that is what I thought they were. I didn't know you could get them in our bolt pattern.

They do have them in 5x130 bolt pattern and 911/944 sizing..... Nice and light. The 8.5x18 is a bit over 8kg and the 10x18 a bit over 9kg I thought....

Which offset did you go with for the rear wheels? 60?

Henk the car is looking great. The only minor cosmetic thing I don't like is the LR nose panel but that's just a subjective view.
I like the Volks as a wheel. I'm still sitting on the fence as far as on a 944. I'll wait to see your pics.
Did you by any chance weigh the sound deadening material that came out of the car? Did you take it out yourself or use the cheap labour force? I know which I'd chose if I could. Do you know how they/you got it out? I'm planning on doing the same but I've heard it's a bitch of a job to do. Heard people say to use heat guns, dry ice, water pressure. Be great to know the best way.

Wheel offset is indeed 60 in the rear. We took out 14 kg of sound deadening, underbodycoating and sealants. tell you what they've been on it for 4 weeks, I think one guy full time, scraping, solvents you name it. If I had to do it myself i think i would still empty out the tub as we did and then just blast it clean..... I would not be able to bring so much enthusiasm to the party for the scraping.

Nice project! Is this car being developed for any racing class in particular, or are you just creating a track monster?

I've got 18"x10" 60et (9kgs) all round so it can work although I needed to have my front fenders enlarged to fit the 285 slicks. What tyres are you going to use Henk?

I have had to suspend my trackcar project so I'm wanting to get some weight out of my car. That sealant is a good way from what I understand. I've heard people say over 30kgs? I think stripping the body and high pressure hose with heated water could be the way to go. Time consuming but so is doing it manually with scrapers. Did you have your shell seam welded too?

Brynjar. don't bother thinking about bringing stuff from here to Europe, Europe is paradise for parts. The simplest parts here are taxed with 30% duty + 7% vat and they all come from Europe or the USA.

Luis, the car will run in Thailand Supercar, up against the beasties like evo's with 750hp etc. But its mainly for fun, racing here is good in grassroots, ie Honda Civic, Toyota Vios, the higher classes are a bit thin and no real rule sets. Fun though. Things might change when we get the 2 new tracks in Thailand, that will liven things up and get the FIA involved in some racing.

Patrick, no seamwelding done at all, also no swiss cheesing done. People here said that the tub has pretty good welding ex factory when I asked, so I left it. Relying on the cage to keep things together. You running 10" up front? I was thinking of using Slicks from the porsche cup cars (slightly used) but didnt think of big boys up front. Currently running Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, have a set of Nitto NT001 in 275/235, have a set of Yoko A48's in 265/225 and a set of federals RSR. The reason I have plenty is because the wife uses them on her boxster at trackdays, I use them on the 911 for the same and now I've got to make up my mind for the 944. I like the nitto's for price/performance but don't know how long they will keep up.

Grtz, Henk

I heard from this guy I was talking to that motorsport never really caught on in Thailand. Apparently the problem was, no matter who won, it was always a Thai.

Boom boom.
