Nice one Henk. Looks like a fun little circuit too. Was that a little bit of oversteer at one corner? Also that left hander at the end of the main straight has me puzzled. Must be slower than it looks on camera. Looks like the car is handling those springs. Are these the 120/240 setup?

Patrick, its 110/220 springs, loosened up the torsion bar a bit in the rear, lowered bump and stepped up rebound and it seems all right. What you don't see is that the car ended up blowing its head gasket out. maybe I should've opened it up before starting racing, hehe. Anyway the head is off now and the new gasket in. We'll close her up this week.

Yup it was oversteer, tires still cold, got to be careful with the throttle. I only did 6 laps or so until she blew, still have a lot of speed to pick up in the back sweeper, but was being careful since it was the first outing on the 220 rear springs.

Meanwhile re-building my spare engine internals, rotrex should arrive before month end and there we go again, it just never stops.....

Headgaskets seem to be the problem de jour. Have you used a stock one or Metal? You shouldn't have any issues with an n/a car but I'd use a Cometic when you go to the s/c.

It looked like you were a bit wary of the rear stepping out but from what I could see the actual springs weren't doing you any harm up and down wise. Perhaps the rears might be just a bit to stiff for the fronts and that's not helping the oversteer issue.

Duke, it were the first laps out (and the last ones) on MPSC 265/35x18 and 235/40x18 with new rear springs, so I really didn't get to trying anything yet. More to follow when she's back up and running.

Had a copy made here of the old one, its temporary only. Will go metal and a bit thicker on the SC engine.

On the set up, we just got to get her sorted but so far didn't get to real driving yet. We'll get there. Part of the fun I guess

Henk, I thought you were going to use Nitto NT01s? In my opinion you will find MPSCs too slow to get up to heat on your car. (light and not overly powerful...yet ). You should also look to increasing the size of the tyres once you've got the s/c up and running. If you're going to keep the stock body panel width, you should be able to fit 10's front and 11's rear. I currently have 18x10's all round with NT01 275/35 on all 4 corners.

Not sure I love the idea of the thicker headgasket, but you can only try. Can't wait to see that when it's all sorted!!

I got the Nitto's being put on a set of NT03M enkei's as we speak.... Must say that the MPSC's are doing very well on my 911. It takes me indeed a bit to get them warm.

The gasket is fractionally thicker and my engine guy feels safer with it when supercharged.

Will let you know how things come along

I'm sure the NT01s will help a lot in curing the twitchiness. The MPSCs are probably just not getting to heat on the S2. In fact you should look at some Hoosiers. R6 or the softer A6. I have used both and they're excellent.

Been out on the Nitto's yesterday in preparation for this weekend's SuperCar races. The 944 will run in the EuroClassic category so that should be fun. Engine temps are back under control and the Nitto's were behaving very well as patrick suggested. Lap times came down from 1.17.5 to 1.14.5 which makes the car kinda quick for this track with only 200hp. The rear springs and whole set up seems good, she rides the curbs well and feels very neutral. So' I'm happy again. Got to wire the camera's for the weekend, dunno if I will get to that. here's a picture of how she looks on the Enkei's.

Running in "Classic over 2000" so it's a real hodgepodge, mainly E30's, few 964's and some hyped up japanese cars. I think she is the best looking one, but might be slightly biased.

Could also run in SuperCar over 2000, but that's really a bit out of the league, given the current performance limitations. Once I got her supercharged she might be able to run midfield there, but the fastest toyota's there do 1 minute laps versus my current 1.14. If i count 4 seconds for full slicks and another 4 seconds for the additional 100 horses from the SC and maybe another 2 from lightening up the car (bumpers, rear quarters and fenders) i"m almost there, hehe.
okay, at least I know what to do in the next months.

Excellent progress Henk. 3 seconds is a very good improvement. I've been out once again on the Nittos and I'm liking them a lot.
The car is looking great. A nice mixture of old and new.

Sounds like your track is similar in length as one we've been going to lately. JET and I started out in the 1.16s and are now down close to the 1.07s mark. The quickest car in our club has done pretty much a 1 min lap in his 'warm' 996 GT2 on slicks. So there are some parallels. Keep posting video too.
