Lets see, one of the major things to watch out for doesnt even have to deal with the car. If you do decide to go with the Renegade kit order it now! They say 4 to 6 weeks, well it took 3 months to get everything!!! The best thing to do is email and call them weekly, that seems to motivate them into working faster.
As far as the actual swap its pretty straight forward but the real things to watch out for is the cross member and oil pan clearance. You MUST grind some metal off where the steering rack bolts to the cross member so that the oil pan doesnt hit under hard acceleration when the engine torques.
Also you have to run remote oil lines and relocate the oil filter and you run the oil lines between the block and the steering rack, well they will rub on a lip on the block so make sure you wrap the lines in that area with rubber or something to cushion the oil lines.
Also if your swapping into an N/A get a turbo trans. The N/A will not hold up to the abuse of the V8. Oh and bleed the cluch BEFORE you install the engine.
Thats pretty much it, I didnt run into any major problems. Its a lot easier then people think to do the swap.

I went with the stock 951 raditor and a lower temp (160°) t-stat and have NO cooling issues at all. I run at about 160° on the freeway and about 180° in city stop and go driving. I also am usind the stock radiator fans that kick on after 180°.
And nag away, you will be happy that you did! I started nagging in the 2 1/2 month period after that I got all my parts in under 2 weeks! I should of nagged right for the beginning.
And if you are going to track the car a oil cooler is a necessity, so you are going to be perfect.

2. A/C was removed along with power steering.
(P.S. - They do offer parts to retain the P/S and A/C, I just opted out on those since I use this as my fun/weekend car and my M5 as my DD so I felt it wasnt needed.)

nice job man!
i just aquired a 89 turbo rolling chassis and am just starting to look into doing a swap. however id like to go with the LS-6. is there a reason everyone seems to choose the LT-1 or LS-2 over the LS-6? Is there a reason besides money?
thanks,
Bryan

Honestly, Im not quite sure, but I think its mainly the cost of the swap. Though, it could be personal preference?? I LOVE the LS-X series engines, so thats why I chose mine.

Yeah, but I got lucky on a lot of the parts besides the Renegade Kit, that was the most expensive at $3k. Got the engine complete with everything for $1,500 from a place in PA. And the remain $$ were spent on a lot of misc. parts. including a ecu reprogram to disable VATS, rear o2, emission etc...

I think most people chose the LS1 because it's cheap and easy to get used ones in good condition, and any more than 350hp is probably redundant.
I'm going with the LS3 because I wanted "crate new", and the it's only 1k more for the later generation engine.
I see no reason why the LS6 wouldn't be a sound choice, though.
