Default 16 Ventiler

Would a 1989 944 Turbo have the markings "16 Ventiler" on the passenger side trim moulding (front right fender)???

Thanks

Shouldn't - 16 Ventiler is the designation for a 16v engine. Turbos were all 8v.

Unless, of course, this is something where someone turboed a 16v engine...

Not from the factory. For an 89, it might be a 944S2.

there was a limited edition (1000) sports model run of the 2.7 944 with 16 valves in 1987. it had 250BHP with split rear seats , heated seats and ventiler decals on the doors and wings . Silver fox colour.

So, how did the 16V 3.0L S2 wind up with 211 HP two years later?

NOTE: The "16 Ventiler" badge was optional on the S2, as was the rear "944 S2" badge.

there is no further info in the book but I guess it must have been fitted with a 16 valve turbo to get 250 BHP.
One turned up in the UK last year. Caused a lot of speculation.

Well, I've been reading books and articles about hese cars for years now, and I have never come across what you are talking about. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist but I'd be willing to bet that I am right.

There are ZERO factory 16v turbo street cars.
