Post How do you disconnect the shift linkage?

My clutch project is (slowly) moving along, and I'm to the point where I need to disconnect the shift linkage. I have the shift boot off, and it's unscrewed back at the transaxle, but I don't see how to disconnect it any further? There's the black shift rod that goes back to the trans., and a brass-colored rod that the shift **** goes over, and those two are held together by a big pin that doesn't look like I could disconnect. Any help?

I got stuck here too when I was taking stuff apart for the clutch job. I did not see how to disconnect the black from the brass. What you need do is pry them apart. I remember a few washers or rings between the two and somehow I pried them apart with a screwdriver. I am actually putting that part back together right now so I will give you more detail tomorrow.

There is a clip that holds the two pieces together, remove the clip and it will pull apart.

Clutch jobs are not fun just finished one myself, by the way, rent a tranny jack, much easier to put back in with it.

Alright, I got it off. It just needed a little convincing...enough "convincing" to break a screwdriver in half

At least that's one more thing down

GOOD ADVICE, PLEASE RENT ONE!!!!! I did mine without it, but when taking the tranny out it fell on my legs and almost crushed them, then when putting it back on (alone) it fell and almost wrecked a cv joint. The center of gravity is too awkward to use a regular jack or even two.
