Your grandfather must be a lot younger than mine were when they passed. It just makes me chuckle to think of a grandfather in a Testarossa since my thoughts tend to skew as "much older" to have a driving age grandson.

Well, I'm only 28, my grandfather is still very sharp in his 70s. He got the TR about 10 years ago because my uncle (who passed away very early at 38) had always wanted one.

Totally agree. once I upped the power (Alot) in my 951.. Brakes started fading. These are the 4 pistons. Upgraded to a duct and race pads. Did really well for most of the session after that. I don't think the brakes you have now will keep up with any LSx motor swap at a track.

I'm sure new sports cars with massive brembo 4piston calipers and huge rotors break much better than your 80s 944.
BUT, I replaced my 944 pads and rotors with stock pads and rotors, cheap red box pads from paragon actually and the car breaks very good.
hey my mom's corolla (yeah i know it's an economy car) is a 98 model and still has rear drums and you should see the rotors and pads on those.
I'd say the 944 na breaks are excellent considering it's an 80s entry level sports car not a 2009 911 or ferrari.
I wouldn't mind putting big callipers on the car though. more breaking power is always better but stock is great especially on the street.
if you're breaking that hard you have other things to worry about like getting rear ended lol.

+1, but I guess we're all beating a dead horse already. I never had a problem with my n/a brakes. Last I did the brakes on my ex girlfriends brand new Civic, they were smaller then my n/a brakes. In fact, very few cars I see on the road even have 4 piston brakes.
Most people choose to complain about the n/a brakes because they aren't "cool" looking, but they do their job alright.

I had a few "spirited" runs around Malibu last month, and had the brakes smoking a couple times. It was hella fun, but I was defiantly on them hard.
Just to note.... I'm not saying the brakes suck. It was just a shock that they are so small. I wasn't expecting that. I had a 93 honda civic that had disks on the back. The pads were bigger in surface area, but alot thinner in material.
I'll keep them while my engine is stock, but when I do get around to the LSx, then new brakes I shall need. I thought I could get away with the stock brakes, but now I see that ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, I need to read up on the upgrades. I have early offset, and I like it. I like the look of the inset hubs.
I know all the upgrades setup for late offset cars, so I'll have to see what I like best.... I don't wanna lose my fuchs
