Option Code 734 and 735
Hi!
This will be my first post here so Ill try to make a quick presentation. At age of 19 i bought my first car, a 924. I owned the car about a year and only did some common maintanence. After a while I sold the 924 and got myself a 924 Turbo with Carrera GT bodykit and Fuchs wheels. Looked really awsome and I really enjoyed driving it. Just made some small modifications and maintenence on this one to. Now I got no 924 but instead a 944 Turbo -87 which I have kitted with new parts for better traction. Not yet tested because Im also doing some work on the engine. Repairing and enchanting.
Some days ago I checked my option codes up and there is two of them I cant find any information about:
734 PV-O SERIES ENGINE (NON SERIES)
735 PV-O SERIES TRANSMISSION (NON SERIES)
In the document it also says that I got a G016R gearbox.

Adding some speculations about its history and some information I forgot to mention.
The car has US specifications but I dont think it ever went over the seas. Someone from US could have bought it when working in Germany and planned to bring it home but never did. Or it has just been sold there and imported back to Germany or brought by someone moving from US. It was imported to Sweden year 2000.
Another strange thing is that the chassinumber does not fully match Porsches archive. My car and registration says: WP0ZZZ95ZHN150016 and when I asked the Porsche dealer about my options due to lost sticker in the car he had to change the numbers and letters to: WP0AAO958ZHN150016
This is the document I got from the dealer: http://www.furious.se/944turbo/options.pdf

Quotes of Olli951 from Finland at 944sverige.com
Porsche used different VIN numbers in USA. Cars had both ROW numbers and USA numbers on them. ROW number is stamped next to the battery. USA vin is usually in small metal plate located to drivers side A-pilar (riveted). I also have a US spec 951 and it has both numbers. ROW number is WPOZZZ95ZJN + 6 rowing numbers which identify the chassie.
USA number is WPOAA2950JN + 6 numbers (5 last are chassie number).Z-letter is more or less just a filler which does not mean anything.
Iam not sure if this is correct in Millens case, since according to his vin number his car is model year 1987 (H-letter) and all 951 US spec cars had air bags.
Your car seems to be very early (16th) model year 1987 US spec car. That's the main reason why you have these options:
Usually first 50 chassie numbers were reserved for factorys own use, so your car was most likely first owned either by Porsche AG or Porsche North America.Chassie numbers smaller than 50 are not yet production versions, so your car is more or less a collectors item.It can also be possible your cars engine block does not have M44/51 code on it. It was usual on these pre-production models. Same thing with your transmission. It can also be possible there are some "odd" things on these pre-production cars. Like missing sidemarker lights on rear even the car have full US spec accessories installed. Also third brake light may be missing.Check also your cars clove box if it differs from other model year 1987 cars.
I suppose you car was in the batch imported to US autothories for approval & inspection. After all, for model year 1987 there were several new items added to 951, like air bags and ABS. If your car does not have the rear side marker lights it is even possible it was never imported to USA. In that case it served first as a factory "test mule" for several years.
A friend of mine here in Finland owns one of the model year 1987 951 prototype. It has also those same options as your car have. It also have some very odd acessories like aluminium clovebox. His car was 8th 1987 951, check the vin number:
Most likely your car does not have that black riveted metal plate which can be seen under the VIN number, it was only for euro models
You should have next to the fuse box a sticker where can be found production month/year, at least all US spec 951's i have seen had that sticker. It was also installed to cars imported to arabic countries.Might be possible your car does not have this sticker since it is a pre-production version. Somehow i think your car is manufactured on June 1986.
Hope this helps

Bumping this old thred since I started working on the car again, which have been sitting for a while.
Engine is in the bay, the turbo is bigger and there are some other new stuff in there to. Will probabably run pretty soon.
I was thinking about the color, which I like the look off.
To pause from the technical bits for a while I searched for information about the color and now I wonder how common the paintjob was for a -87 944 turbo.
It says exterior color S5S5 in the old Porsche documents, but that converts to LM6Y.
And there are also some dark green strip of tape with extruded letters right under my drivers side rear side window that says 951H2215 EPB.
Whats that about?

This is a remarkable learning tool here for the rest of us in North America who are used to seeing only one variation of these identification features.
Do you have an ability to put a photo image of that window sticker you speak of, up on a post here ?
Also, if the car was to be picked up in Germany for delivery later to a North American port, it should have a code 900 somewhere on that white tag either in the warranty book or in the rear hatch area by the left rear taillight, under the carpet.
Fascinating discussion .......

What am I missing?
The VIN/chassis number is just a regular 87 951 US number, M44/51 is the correct engine number for that chassis and there were 3 trans options in that year 016J,K&R. It looks like a US spec 87 951 that was later exported to Sweden.
