Default what shocks the early 944 come with?

I just jacked up my rear end to do some muffler work and noticed the rears on mine were bilstein's. are those stock? mine's a 83 with supposedly the sport package.

are they serviceable? or have to totally replace?

I think the originals on my early 85 were Boge.

ok. so i took off my wheels and checked, my fronts are green bilsteins in a black strut housing (is that the boge housing that's mentioned in catalogs?). rears are green bilsteins also.

can i just get a replacement shock for mine? or do i have to order special? I keep seeing in the catalogs "not for sport package"

Koni is the sport package, I believe. I got a set for the rear brand new from Paragon for 273 or so, because I couldn't find them used, and well, they'd be used. I believe Boge is the normal stock set.

hmm so if boge's are stock and koni's are sport...then mine are not original...ok? heh

my option sticker says sport package. so maybe PO changed to bilsteins...i guess i can replace with bilsteins or go with koni's

Early cars are Bilsteins if you have the sport suspension/stabilizer option (forget if it's 456 or 474).

+1, if you had Bilsteins that is the sport option. I had an '83 and it also came stock with Bilsteins.
