I really want to get the look of red taillights, I think it really updates the car. I want a dark red color, but can I paint over the white reverse light? What can't I do?

As far as I know, you can't do anything unless the bulbs (if doing clear lenses) or the covers are DOT approved. I think you'd be ok if it was close to the original colors, but red for backup lights I would think are too different and might attract bored officers

I've always wanted to try and spray the orange corner red, and then use a really light coat of VHT Nightshades.

I've sprayed my corners red and tinted them and didn't have a problem. I now have clear as per my avatar.

if you use testors model spray paint candy red- its translucent - ive sprayed several corner lenses red this way. I also sprayed one guys lights all red- did about four coats over the corner and the reverse light and then untaped the other lenses and put a coat over the entire lense so the reds matched. Then cleared them. He's never been bothered to this day. The reverse light still seems very white when turned on and the corners still glow orange.
