I believe you can safely mix dino and synthetic blinker fluid - I believe they do that in Europe as a matter of course. In fact - that is one of the main reasons you can leave your blinker light on with the car parked and the ignition "off" (and key out). I further believe - but - could be wrong that SYNTHETIC only blinker fluid caused the blinker stalk on the slip to the "off" position when the driver left the vehicle.. The dino only made for a "balky blinker" shift..?

I may be wrong - but, I dun'no...??

Pffft! You guys don't need them expensive blinker fluids. It's just the same old stuff with some perfume and dye in it!

It is somewhat normal. Remember that the seals do dry out and begin to crack-up with age (as we all do?).. My suggestion is to "drive those blinkers like you stole them"...

No, dont do that. Do I have to teach you kids everything. glad I stopped you in time.

the dealers did that when the cars were new. I think that is why the gasket around the tail lights seeps onto the bumper. in the back of your owners manual there may be a stamp from the dealer. if so, they probably changed the blinker fluid.

if you dont believe me

I deleted my blinkers and I'm running manual blinkers (hand signals) to avoid those pesky blinker fluid leaks that destroy the right sway bar bushing.

I'm thinking of racing my 944 in the future so i'm looking into installing a blinker fluid cooler to keep the blinker temps down. My buddy was racing a viper in his NA when his blinker fluid overheated and he lost the race.

It's such a messy job I always have my monkey from the last group buy do mine. Some tasks are better left for simian skills.

I asked a Porsche Master Tech about consumption of blinker fluid and at what point it is considered excessive. I was told that one liter of fluid per 10 hours of operation is normal. If used on track, consumption may double except in the Red run group where it is expected to diminish. In any case blinker fluid is not and consumption thereof is not covered by the warranty if the car is used on a race track. Oh, yeah, there is no blinker warranty in FL where many cars are seen at the speed limit in the left lane with the blinker stuck on.

My personal experience is that using Castrol Specific Racing Fluid works best. My blinkers flash more precisely with a satisfying mechanical "click" and the lever has no tendency to slip back into neutral. I think John has this problem but he's a slippery character anyway.

Bob,

That is bogus information.. I would suggest swapping out your Porsche Master Tech BEFORE you replace any further blinker fluid... As you know (and I know) - NO ONE in the RED RUN GROUP ever uses their blinkers...

'Cept me... I always use blinkers. And I come to a complete stop before exiting any apex. Further - I carry my own red flag - which I stick out the window BEFORE I PASS anyone...

That is my story - and I am sticking to it....

BTW -

Maybe he should throw a turbo in that 944 NA? Everyone knows how to do it....

Hope this helps - but - I'll bet it doesn't..... And if you think it does - then you would be wrong....

Friend to friend, I wouldnt come to a complete stop before the apex. with cars coming up fast behind you, you run the risk of damaging your muffler bearings.

Unless of course if your air cooled car has the muffler bearing delete option.

I was going to go that route but there was way too much hand greasing involved.
