Default some guy just tried to blow up my car...

it was a day, just like any other, walk into Best Buy looking for new door speakers. of course, of course no body makes damn cheap 6x4 speakers. i walk outside, kind of humid, cloudy day. the person i parked in front of is having some car trouble. he says "hey man can you give me a jump?"

"of course" i say, as i open my door. everything goes smoothly, i pop my hood, he pops his. he hooks up the jumper cables on his car.... goes to do it on mine.....

SPARKS sparks everywhere!! idiot hooked it up on the wrong side!!....car dies... "oh, sorry man, looks like you got your cables backwards".

i said "no you idiot, you're just f-ing stupid", i get in my car, pray to god it starts.... starts like a dream... drive off leaving him stranded. nobody ever touches my car

LOL

I hate using cables, getting the clamp on the terminal under the windshield is always dodgy.

why weren't you the one putting the cables on?

I always put the cables on myself - if not - look for someone else to give you a jump!

My boss tells me the proper way to give a jump is to leave your car off, otherwise you risk damaging your computer during current surges. I don't know... that's what he says.

Why wouldn't you take the cables and put them on your own battery?

i've always put thte cables on prior to starting the car. my question is, doesn't best buy sell car batteries? why not just go in a buy a new one, evidentally his wasn't that strong to begin with.

jumping another car doesn't damage anything on your own car, nor their's. it's just a myth...though i guess if you spark something it could do damage, but that's why the make grounds

The sparking can cause damage to the DME
it is just the quick raise in voltage that does that.

great opportunity for explosion. Always look away when disconnecting jumpers.
