Default tinting rear tailights

I was down in Los Angeles recently an I saw quite a few new BMW's and Mercedes with tinted rear tailights and I thought they looked pretty good, so I was wondering if anyone has had expierience with this or knows of a good product?

this place has tinting films for lenses. i havent used it though, just saw an ad in a magazine.

I used clear with some black basecoat mixed in. Obviously not reversible like film, but I think it looks cleaner.

I tinted mine with the VHT Nightshade spray, I got a little too happy and made them pretty much black. Too black in fact that Ive been pulled over in the daytime and night time for them being too dim. Ill find a picture.

I too used the VHT Niteshades, and I too sprayed mine a bit too dark. I'd like to redo mine to be a bit lighter than what they are now.

and i hate that picture.

Yeah mines just about as dark as yours Drift. I wanted just some light "smoked" look like those MK3 Jetta tailights, I dont know what came over me when I was doing it.

i put two or three thin coats of VHT nightshades on - believe i bought it at www.jegs.com and then i put a coat of Dupont chromaclear out of a gun over it- clearcoat like i would put on a paintjob. Turned out pretty good i'd say- did my marker lights as well- dont do the front ones though they knick up pretty easy.

next time id suggest keeping them all-red, maybe the slightest of tint would be cool but IMO the black lights really clash with the paint and dont look good

Drifta's car is 100% pure sexy-time.

FWIW I plowed into the back of an old, rusty, sh!tbox, Nissan truck about 8 years ago because they sprayed thier tail light and I couldnt see crap out of the lenses. The purpose of them is to be seen. NOT worth the risk IMO.

I think I'm going to go with the lamin-x, because I most likely would get spray happy also and my tailights would end up black.

Whatever you do, upgrade your lighting system - run leds or something so people can still see the brake lights.

I ended up spraying some red candy and then clear over the orange signals on my tails and it looks pretty good. Cleans up the look a lot. Don't have a camera so I can't take any pictures.
