The quarter window seal is the piece of rubber that surrounds the rear side windows.
I had water accumulating in the same place, and it was due to my hatch leaking.

On my car it was the sunroof leaking causing the problem. My seal was good but the tube had gotten disconnected so water was leaking down the B Pillar and making the rear passanger wet. You will need to gently peel back the roof vinyl and check the tubes for the drain to make sure it's connected well and if it is make sure it is not clogged using weed whacker line...
this was told to me by another member i though it would be a good idea to check too......

Check out wheeler dealers and the 924 they do (and 928)... one of them shows how to replace those seals in an easy/clever way! [on youtube]

On a 944 I had I drilled a hole in the floor pan to drain the water out. My current 944 also has this problem and I don't want to resort to the drill again, so I need to reseal the hatch. I already eliminated the sunroof.

Good luck with it. I know how much it sucks. Try to fix it soon, otherwise mold will develop. Spray some lysol or bleach or something in the wet area to kill bacteria. Yuck!

I had water collecting in the rear footwell area. Turned out to be quarter window seals and also heater seal.

the blower motor or heater unit (85.5+ ) 944 can leak and water will leak from under the dash and run under teh carpet to teh rear area.

I sealed around my heater unit with tar stuff and I think its leaking again. last week after washing my car I got a puddle in the driver side rear footwell area again......

I got to be careful washing my car from now on I don't pour a lot of water on the winshield so it doesn't go in the heater unit.

the rear window seals I took out and instead of buying new ones I'm cheap I just siliconed the glass to the seal and put it back in and it doesn't leak anymore.

you have to get the leak under control or else your interior will turn into a big pile of mold like it happened to me. I had to remove my whole interior and kill the mold and wash and demold everything. wasn't fun.

Heater seal? You mean the fan housing under the hood up by the cowl? To seal that properly, you need to remove it, scrape out all the old sealant and apply new sealant. I've heard of people using silicone, but that may make it tough to remove again. I'm trying a EPDM seal that I made (also using it on the tail lights) to see if that works any better, but you should at least use something similar to what the factory has. Also, there is a rain shield that goes over the top of it to keep rain out. If yours is missing/damaged, I'd highly recommend replacing it. It covers a lot of the cowl and keeps all the crap out of that area.
