I'm so fed up with this car... $8K and it hasn't brought me home even once without SOMETHING breaking. The lower shock mount breaking was like the straw that broke the camels back
Mod list in sig.. will include brand new 968 wing (painted red) - hasn't even come to me in the mail yet, 2 951 nose panels (one hasn't even reached me yet) and 968 door handles
The car runs great and has everything new (all new wiring, sensors, seals etc) compression is 150 -/+ 5psi on all 4.
Car has 96K miles. Interior is VERY nice other then dash. Has comfort heated 964 seats. I was told they are "supple" leather.. either way they are REALLY nice
2 sets of wheels. Chrome 18s and aftermarket 16"
Only problem is there is a broken stud in the trailing arm. I tried taking it out and a welder came by and claimed he can't weld a nut to to it because some threads are exposed (bolt didn't break flush with the trailing arm) I am not willing to invest any more $$$ or time (will be both if I had to replace the actual trailing arm) and just want out of the p-car game.. for good
$6K FIRM!!!!!
I will not part it. I don't have the time and don't want to deal with it. Someone can make some money here if they part it

It needs to be done. I'm really unhappy about it as I really love(d) the car.. even if I only got to floor it in 3rd gear once I just haven't been able to drive it because random **** is constantly breaking. The maxtronic, the coilovers, wiring, fuel pump, injectors, fpr/d (I could go on forever..) with my luck, the only other thing that could happen to it is catching on fire. I need to cut my losses and buy a freaking 92 Toyota or something
It's been 1.5 weeks since my coilover broke and I don't have a new shock. I've been paying friends out of the *** to bring me to school, working, flying lessons, etc and I just can't afford it.. this sucks so bad

Mike,
I have not gotten your wing back from the paint shop, so if you wish to cancel your order let me know. I can return your money order once I receive it...there is no reason to buy this wing if you are selling your car.
I am trying to make this easy on you...let me know ASAP.

thanks patrick .. but I'll still take it . If I don't get what I want for my car I guess I'll just give all the good parts (seats, wing, turbo front end, etc) to my mom for her red n/a and set this POS on fire and pretend I never even had an obsession with 944s

You know it sucks, but in a way I don't blame you. I started to feel like this about my previous 951 that is now owned by Porschedoc(Karl). It seemed like I was working on it more then driving it, and I really lost my enthusiasm for the car. I ended up selling it and it was really the best thing for me and the car, as it went to a great owner and I left the 944 scene for a couple of years to get a break. After that I finally got the chance to buy my current car from the PO (I had told him I would buy it when he was ready to sell) and it has really been a great experience the past three years.

Van, i appreciate the offer, but I really don't have the motivation to pull the trailing arm off. I got under the car tuesday before school and just couldn't bring myself to take apart the car anymore.. ever again. I also had a 2nd welder come by and he said he couldn't do anything without welding the stud/threads/nut together and causing a huge mess. What do you think?
It seems like I have been working on 944s nonstop for 5 years now with only 1.5 years trouble free (out of the 944 that cost me the least. 1,500$ and I got 60K miles out of it before selling it to drive my 951) I was hoping to have my car ready to go in time for the rennlist pumpkin shoot but that won't be happening. I have been depending on this POS to get me to school - I have to drive ~100miles a day between school, work, flying, and other errands - and it can't even do that. At least before my brother crashed his car I would be able to borrow his car when he didn't need it. Now there is nothing .
now off to my flying lesson ($200.. 3x a week ) by paying a friend $50 to drive me to columbia county airport then to school. Then I have to find someone else to give me a ride home from school to work until tommorow
I know I shouldn't depend on a 944 Turbo.. but my last 944 was dead nuts reliable after replacing head gasket, rollers, waterpump, vac lines. I figured with a new engine and everything new it would be almost as dependable. A 944 Turbo is also the car I've wanted ever since I could remember (hell.. I've been on rennlist since I was 12!) Looks like the porsche gods will have the last laugh

Its not good to make decisions when you are emotional. I would take a couple days to cool off and then think about it with a little clearer head. Just my two cents.

The control arm (threads) is aluminum. The broken bolt is steel. They CAN'T be welded together.
The trick to doing this is to patiently build up a nub on top of the broken bolt until your nub sticks out of the hole. Then you take a large nut, put it over the nub, and weld your nub to it.
If you've achieved good penetration (run with that one, people) it'll back right out.

I know EXACTLY how you feel...and I am also on the fence to sell my 951. I miss my reliable S2.....
However, you have alot invested in this and it would be a shame to give up when you are that close to having it sorted. Take a break and walk away.....then decide.
