As my subject says, I wouldn't choose purple, but there have been Porsche's painted purple from the factory. I've seen 911's, a 928, and a 968 all in factory purple. The 928 was a darker shade and pulled it off quite well.

most purples are gay on ALL cars but....and i mean but i mean a midnight almost black purple. like a metallic gloss type deal. i will look for a better pic then the r34

This is the best factory purple color from Porsche. At least on a 930...would look funny on a 944 i think. This are shots from Porsche Parade Charlotte this year.
