Anything is possible but, here is the key.......
Sorry but, if you don't have the cash to repair and rebuild stock, then swaping in a engine that doesn't belong in there is not in your future. It will most likely be as expensive or more, even if the powerplant is free.
Sorry to be negative but that's the way I see it.

If you don't have enough money to buy a turbo, you likely don't have enough money to do a proper engine swap. Of course, this cost estimate is very dependent on your fabrication facilities and abilities.
If you're looking for bolt-up, no way. It would be way cheaper to buy a 951, and use a stack of hundreds to light your dead 944 on fire.

i dont think itll fit ?? ive seen the sr20 inside a 240 with the turbo, and it looks like itll fit but snuggly.... just get a 951 to me its better than a 240 with the sr20.

Save some cash. Sell one 944, part out the other. Profit. Buy 951. Go faster than ZOMG JDM 240's and be cooler.
Alternative:
Sell borked 944 and use money to fix up running 944 and not put an SR20 in either.

240sx's never came with sr20's from the factory cause ... then nissan wouldn't have called them 240sx's. the japanese nissan silvia is called the 200sx and correctly has a the 2.0L SR20. the nissan 240sx has 2.4L KA24. see how that works?

For the price of one custom sr-20 bellhousing you could buy a good replacement 944 engine that bolted in and prevent your car from becoming a navy anchor when you have it towed away for scrap. I'm not trying to discourage innovation but if you want to see the car running in the next 2 years go with a used 944 engine; if you want a turbo buy a 951.

^^^ thats what i thought too cuz my friend has a 240SX (S13) and he has the SR20 from japan imported, and ive seen the before and after and it looks about the same, maybe slightly bigger engine but then again he did get the JDM front (his car is now "SIL-EIGHTY") so idk if that effects the engine bay area idk krystar tell us more
