Angry I REALLY need a new fuel rail. anyone have one?

I just buttoned up the "Exxon Valdez" after changing the oil gasket- (What a PITA!!) I did a small test drive yesterday to check for oil leaks- none (Thank you GAWD!!)..
I took a drive to Best Buy (about 5-10 miles) and then I began smelling a noticable odor of gas. I did have a small fuel stream (wet) from near the 1st cyl intake manifold. I cleaned that up - and watched it for several minutes during idle- seemed ok. I returned home and checked the top of the injectors (bottom of the fuel rail) and had fuel present on 1, 3 and 4 at the top of the injectors.. HELP!! <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

EDIT- Page 2 will show latest info- I finally got the time to inspect more carefully.

Check that you have the fuel rail fully seated.

Right, drive the Buick until you install new O-rings. Too many cars on this forum have burnt from fuel leaks.

I would make sure that the injectors are seated. You just got through with some work and you could have not knowing, hit a fuel rail that might have been already loose.

Thats it- I'm off to bed. I'll get new seals and rebuild the injectors when I get back. better safe than sorry- a perfect solution.

Chris,

Are you sure the fuel rail isn't cracked somewhere else, and the gas is running down the fuel injectors?

Also, why do you think you didn't see/smell this before? I guess it is hard to imagine that the seals dried up in the week or so you had the car off the road. Why would all four start leaking at exactly the same time? Seems kind of strange. Maybe you have one leak, and the gas flows down the rail to all 4 injectors.

Good luck with the repair.

Nope- not sure at all. May indeed be the fuel rail- is there good way to check it? I cant see any dripping at all, and its getting really late- I've already decided to leave it behind this weekend. I may just re do the injector seals "just because" its cheap- Only found fuel on 3 injectors at the very top (the "hat"?), closest to firewall was worst, then closest to front seemed "next" worst. small pooling of fuel in the recesses where the rail mounts to the engine.

I have a headache (too much fume intake, and WAAY overtired) and getting a little fed up. I'm better off to leave it alone right now, but I'm still looking for suggestions..
