The best way to improve the power (perceived) of an n/a is to remove weight. They say that every 10lbs you remove is like adding 1hp. So if you take out 100lbs, that would be the equivalent of a 10hp gain.

it won't cost as much to upgrade things like pistons, hotter cam, etc. he's in europe. plus the europeans have access to very good stand alone ems systems that aren't as expensive as ones in the states. will he make more than 200whp with everything? doubtful. what happened to the saying don't knock it till you try it? everyone knocks it.....who's tried it?

you don't want to go too far though with the street car. i wouldn't want to strip my interior.

I did remove all my sound deadning/ fiberglass carp under the carpets cus it was all moldy and I removed my spare tire because it was busted lol.

heavy items in the 944 are the power seats / rear hatch glass. and you could get fiberglass body panels but that is not a cheap upgrade lol

its not adding forced induction, but it did work nicely for me: www.maxhpkit.com
russel is a stand up guy. I've bought 3 chips from him now. its worth about 10HP on a stock car. obviously more with other mods and he'll work with you to program a chip to your mods.
from the sounds of it, you don't have a ton of money to spend on this little endeavor so i'd keep it simple. even assuming you did the labor on your own, you would have the cost of a nice 951 by the time you got to 200HP. without one-off parts, dyno tuning, and lots of machine work you're pretty limited to about 150 at the wheels, and thats pretty strong for a street 944.

that interior strip job is really nicely done

i think the loss of putting 16" wheels compared to 15" wheels would be negligible. try weighing the 993 wheels compared to the cookie cutters.

if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to make more HP, its not imposibble but it is expensive, 2 words: CARBON FIBER

my friend has an evo 9 MR with carbon fiber panels and he claims the loss of about 150+ pounds im not so sure but he is one rich kid lol

im with you buddy, i have an 86' late model n/a 944 FTW

well considering this 944 has practically no interior hes already almost there lol.

if you really get serious you could pull the rubbery undercoating off the car which altogether is about 120lbs. and if you have access to the stuff you could find some generic truck bedliner or something and respray it on the bottom of the car for the same protection for alot less weight.
