...on the UK Ebay and obviously this will be important to me. Anyhing else I should check on with this model before purchase?
It's to replace the wife's 280CE and (sort of) match the S2. She'll only drive an autobox - aren't they JUST difficult.

Sorry didn't say - this a circa 1980 model.
I should know - I've read it somewhere - what do they say about short term memory loss - sorry, what was your name again?

I had a 1979 US model and from the doors back it was definitely a galvanized body. Stripped it to bare metal to paint it. The front fenders I am not to sure about, as they were quite rusty and didnt seem to be galvanized when I stripped them. Maybe they were replacements though because my 87 924S is ALL galvanized panels.

Porsche introduced hot-galvanized bodyshell as standard in 1975 or '76, I forget, in all their cars.

You for sure have it on a 1980 924 unless someone has ground it off doing body work.

5 figure speedo on that one in US, Interior parts are very similar to the up to 85.5 944's and the 87-88 924S. Mechanically very different from the 944's and the 87-88 924S. Actually the engine on the early 924 is the same as one they used in a VW van of some sort (not the VW microbus) and I think it is an Audi engine so it may be used in some sort of old Audis. Transmission is unique to the car I think, and different from newer 944 and 924's

Dan is right. First fully galvanized body was introdueced 1975 (my 1976) 911. This process was adopted to other models also.

Bad news. Emailed the seller and it's BEIGE.
A BEIGE Porsche - yuck.
My wife said "I wont EVER drive a beige car - I don't care if it is a Porsche". (Or a Ferrari or a MacLaren or a ... etc...etc......)
So in spite of all your help I'm stuffed.
Never mind I'll look for another - preferably a white (to match mine) 944 with the autobox she insists on.
Thanks for your posts.
Bruce
