Default Lights-ON Warning

Hi all,

Is my '89 944S2 supposed to have a factory fitted Lights ON warning beeper after i take the key out of the ignition? If not can somethiing be installed?

I've not forgotten the lights on yet but I have a feeling I will at some point.

Hmm... there is only one switch in there, the courtesy lights switch which is working fine. When I press it the courtesy light goes off. :S

Maybe the buzzer doesn't work at all.
It's in your fuse box.

The fuse box is in the engine bay right? I'll go and have another look.
Oh, how does the buzzer look?

Thanks,
Rob

when you open the door the interior lights should come on, and the buzzer should sound if your key is in the ignition or if your external lights are on.

if the courtesy light works then maybe the switch is fine.

Inside the fuse box, there should be a relay with a bunch of little holes in the top, if you don't have one, the po probably took it out. It is about 2" tall by 1" x 1", I took mine out as it malfunctioned and buzzed non-stop.

Yeah what gstein said. If you didn't notice it immediately I would assume that yours is gone.
You can buy one, and the map on the fuse box lid will tell you where to put it.

I don't want to steal a topic here, but my interior chime runs non-stop whenever the driver's door is open. Lights on or off makes no difference, just chimes away. Which is really fun to listen to when you are detailing the inside with the driver's door open and it won't stop.

Has anybody replaced the relay with any success to get it to stop chiming, I'm thinking perhaps it's gone haywire. Or would you suspect a deeper electrical gremlin?

TIA

The ignition could be not closing when you take the key out. And it may still think the key is in there.
