Yeah what about those truck engines, that's a question I've been meaning to ask for a while. I love the 5.3 in my moms pick up.

wiki says there were some aluminum block 5.3 engines in trailblazers, envoys and the SSR which were good for just under 300hp..says there was a HO version which was 310hp and like 335 lbft and only came in 4wd trucks like the silverado 4x4 1500.
seems if you dont mind the iron weight pretty much any of those engines will work nicely, lord knows how many chevy/gmc trucks and suvs are out there. 300hp/tq for cheap is always a nice thing to hear.

I meant are the truck engines going to work in my car with the above BH or are there any fundamental differences that would preclude this?

My LSx is going to the shop and because I intend to track the car I am looking for reliability to go with power mods we are doing. Those include LS6 intake manifold, Z06 Heads ( ported) Z06 cam, polished throttle body and de-screen MAF. Headers are modified 99 corvette to SLP high flow cats. In the engine we going with bigger valve springs, pistons and rods, and the oil pump will be ported with oil pressure increased. Engine work will cost $5K. Pricey but I want 7500 redline and want to go there alot. Flywheel is a light fidanza going to a spec 2 clutch with a kevlar disc. I got a good deal on both of those. The real beauty of these power plants is the OBD2 computer that has about 16 pages of tunable inputs.

Well, I already upset/surprise plenty of 911 owners with the 2.5!
I'm a realist, though. There's no way I could expect to have a clean, simple LSx swap without a world of little glitches, costs and delays. I figure I'll keep working on my driving; and if I can get the suspension optimized, I can just floor the gas out of the pits and never lift until the run session is done!
I can't wait for VIR. I want to see if I can go flat out from turn 5 to turn 10. (Safely, of course.)

As for the 5.3 or LM7 engine.... http://www.porschehybrids.com/php/vi...2842&hilit=LM7
Great engine. It can be bolted up to the QT BH as well. No problem there as far as I know it still shares the same mounting as the LS. In fact, the intake is just swapped to an LS intake.
Great thing about this engine is thats its flex fuel as well as highly upgradeable!!!
Roman. I PM'd you.

All have the same BH mounting patterns. But, cast? Depending on which you have. Some are aluminum some are cast iron. Some are HUGE 6.2L and some are small 4.8L like the cayenne V8. So yeah, most are just an LS1/2/6/7/9/x but with torque being the primary design; for towing....these are truck engines! With a swap of this and that, you make huge power for cheap. The going rate for a pull-out LQ/M/Y/etc. is equal to or less than 1K. Lots are found for around 600 bucks.
I see you like wikipedia so try this...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Vortec_engine

A nice thing about using a Gen II/III engine (and something I miss) is they're dead reliable if kept mild. Tune it safe, keep the oil changed and there's not much maintenance outside of the occasional spark plug change. If I keep this up, I'll end up talking myself into a conversion
I found the black badges on eBay, but the sellers price was too high. I looked everywhere trying to find them without success, then noticed that he had a picture of the back of the emblem. The part number was a standard badge, so I bead blasted mine and painted it with Blitz Black (John Deere tractor paint). Turned out well. I'm trying to decide if I want to paint the crests on the center caps black too - I think it may be too much.
