I also ditched the entire Porsche electrical system, gauges, ac, etc. I'm going to do a rewire with Painless and an AIM display. I'm solving the brake issue by with a Tilton or AP manual race brake/clutch setup. Ditching the power steering as well. I also will replace the enitre fuel system and have already plasma cut the spare tire well out. The car looks amazingly clean with all the junk out.

Shaved fuel door, handles, etc. Smooth, low and wide. No bling, no unnecessary fluff. The hardest part will be finding rims and tires!!!

My own Porsche version of the Scuderia.
sounds awesome, except i'm not going to reinvent the wheel when i don't need to... im not that handy with torches and that kind of stuff

The widebody is on the agenda!!!

I specialize in design and fabrication so I'm making my own. I'm going to try and make my own version of what a 2010 944 might look like. I'll have some early sketches to post by the end of the month.

Another user has done some electronic versions of what a modern 2010 944 might look like. In fact, someone is currently using that "updated" version as their avatar.

Whatever you do please make sure to show us pictures!!

you pretty much described my plan allready bought a ls1, that I need for approval, the ls 376/480 is then beeing dropped in.

I assume you also are going for an aim MXL model, should be way easy to connect to a ls1 via odbii. I' also going standalone pedalbox, with balance bar. we should share some ideas. are you on hybrid forums?

I'm converting my car to widebody, I'm getting a decent rim collection, everything form sport techno 2, joengbloed, fikse.. and perhaps buy a set of CCW classics this winter? they are hot

I don't see the point of shaved handles or fuel refill, that's just impractical, as I will have a road registerd, pure racecar.

as for powersteering, tracking a widebody,on manual rack.. no thankyou! I'm a big bloke, but there is limits.

The lag, from my dyno chart, seems to be dead on with the Stock Turbo "S".
I run it at 365whp - 18psi - most of the time. I would feel comfortable at that level for a very long time. I'm never going to know, because I will always update the bearings/rings every 2 years, or a hard season. Depending.

944-LT1-

Are there any vendors that carry the new BH that you'd recommend (like a sponsor on the hybrid board or something)? I am going to get started this winter, and I'd like to send my funds the way of a company that serves the 944 community.

What a cool discussion...

I'd love to have a V-8 in my car, I think just the sound of that bada$$ engine would help complete the overall look and feel of it. The 4 cylinder, although a reliable and great engine in its time, is just not angry enough or powerful enough for a car with the name Porsche on it.

I'm not gifted enough to do it myself but if I had the ability I would be very interested in doing such a project!

QTI (quicktime bellhousings) has made the custom BH just for us! Id say send your money that way. That way, they will keep the housings around. If say they sell 1 or 2 a year.....well you know what theyll do.

After that, i would get mounts and pilot adapters etc from www.944hybrids.com who are also just a couple board members who decided to sell stuff.

anyone have a used RH kit?
I was wondering the same thing. I called RH and spoke to Scott. Really nice guy. This is the what he said to do to my 87' 944 na. The list is really long if people want to chime in and say otherwise.

i looked at the list it looks like most of the optional stuff is stuff that really isn't optional, seems expensive with all that stuff.

i wonder if someone who's done it can make a list of the stuff they used (i mean done it with AC/heater/power steering and everything working like a real 944)

still seems better to use a vitesse stage iii kit and a 944 turbo or 944s2 turbo motor to get 400rwhp, if you want more it seems the ls1 is the way to go.
