Post Torsion bar replacement!

Mike and I are replacing his torsion bars this weekend.

Anyone wanna place a bet on how we won't index them the same!

Can't be any harder than my clutch.

Wish us luck

Did mine four weeks ago in my 87 944NA. Not fun, still cursing. It builds character, just remember that. Make sure you have a ginormous breaker bar(i used a steel pipe over it for even more leverage). Also, take your time and realize that if you are replacing them it will be tough to get them perfectly indexed the first time. Took me 3 tries to get it right. I never understood how folks could pay $1500+ for coil over suspension in the back....now i know why.

Its really not very bad. My buddy (non car guy) and I did it on a Saturday afternoon with only one attempt. There are numerous websites with the info on how many turns of the inner and outer splines will change the ride height, etc, etc. Its very important to do the calculations for what height you want (before you remove the old bars) and it shouldn't be that bad.

Same as the motor mounts, clutch, and thermostat, these type of jobs are relatively easy and straight forward if you do the research and have the right tools beforehand. Of course having 5 944s over the past 2 years has taught me a thing or two - so they are "easy" now. If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I hope you hit the first time.

My car is in a million pieces doing a engine build and I have no fear with this.

Now the T-Bar change that I would like to do, well I am a big chicken and have not found the courage to start.

Good Luck

I'm not worried. With every half day job that turns into 2-3 days Jon and I learn a lot about our cars. Besides, getting to work on a Porsche is great fun!!!
