Post 1982 944

I have an 82 944 that was imported from Germany. The only difference I can see from an 83 model is the front bumper. It doesn't have the normal long bumper guards it has little square ones. Do you think this car is worth more for its uniqueness?

I think the euro cars had different bumpers in all early cars. I have an 83 US car that is made 6.82 with the big bumper.

It has some other subtle differences. The rear bumper may be different too. A German-spec engine should have about 160hp, instead of the like 150 of an early US car. But emission controls added when it was imported may be strangling it to even less that a US version.

Overall, the Euro 944 isn't all that different from the US car, unlike some other cars. The Euro 928 in '84, for example, had almost 100hp more than an '84 US car. But even the Euro 928 isn't worth more than a US 928 I don't think.

I would think the condition of the car has the biggest effect on the value.

Post some pics of it.

All European 944 NA has the smal square rubber on the bumper, an no shock absorber's for holding the bumper.
This is due to different regulations in the states compared to europe. The car is originally made with the Euro bumper, and later the car is modified to fit the american market. That includes larger rubber patches on the bumper, and shock absorber mounting, Less horsepower 150HP in US-spec versus 163HP in Euro, due to smog regulations, and hence lover compression in the cylinders. The ride hight is also raised i US.

So be glad you have a Euro, it's the real stuff.

Speaking of the rubber squares, one of them was lost when I hit a deer. Any ideas on where I should look to replace it?

I've checked ebay..it's hard to come across the euro models.. I was hoping maybe a 924's would fit.

I couldn't find the deeer. He also took off with my porsche emblem embedded in his leg as a souvenir.

The 924 bumper looks different and does not have the frames around the turn signal light/position ligt that the rubber sits in.

Actually i'm looking for a passenger's side rubber square for mine 944 as well, since i hit the back off a van 3 weeks ago, and lost the rubber on the highway.

I have parts from my previously 924's, and the rubber on the bumper is different. :=(

I'm missing the driver's side. I wonder if I should just get a bra to cover the missing piece. Do you think a standard early model 944 bra will fit properly? Please let me know if you find a source for these rubber pieces.

Hmmm. I live in Denmark, thats in Europe on top off germany. And the cehapest parts for me seems to be from www.eurocarparts.com .

They have the part no. 828330070 LH LIGHT FRAME BUFFER for £29.25. I think it's a little expensive, so i wait to see if i find a used one some day.
