Default Clutch to the floor question..

Ugh.

So, I drive 45 min to work, last road before work and i'm at a light, when I let up on the clutch to pull out, it only comes up half an inch or so, but it was enough to move. shift to second, and the pedal stays all the way at the floor, but I got in second. Just have to make it another 500 yards to work, and of course a tractor trailer stops in the middle of my lane.

I had to get to work adn off this busy road.. I just pushed hard with some throttle into first and got going with the synchros. and got to work. I had pulled the clutch pedal up with my hand on the way even though the clutch wasnt doing anything obviously, and when I parked at work i tried the clutch again, and it works....

I assume this is the master/slave clutch cylinder symptoms? I have already replaced my slave a year ago.. but I know that probably increases master failure rate..

Really sucks.. Has anyone had their slave cylinder go bad in 1-2 years? Really would like to bet on its the master and only change that since I've somewhat recently done the slave.

Any tips to changing the master? Knew I shouldn't have cheaped out and not done it when the engine was out.

Have you checked the line going to the slave, they do break (ask me how I know). Also, before you just buy a master and slave, try bleeding the system.

sometimes you have to pump it to build pressure when that happens, but you will need new master/ clutch

Push to the floor, pull up with your toe or your hand, push to the floor, pull up, repeat.

Just checked it out from the top of the engine bay.. hard to tell but it might be the hose leaking. I see fluid on the ground below the starter and can just barely make out the top of the clutch slave from the top and can see wetness on it.

My clutch has been sticking halfway down lately. Everything still works fine, not problem engaging/disengaging, but occasionaly the pedal just doesn't return. I pull it back up with my toe and all is well again. I think it might be something bent/binding in the pedal or linkage.

I had the slave, master and hydraulic hose all fail within a few months of each other. The slave had failed on my 2 previous cars without the others following suit.

Was the hose BTW, it seems to have melted through the rubber, it was sitting against the engine somewhere i guess, got one from foreign car parts online, overnight shipping and it got shipped ground, so while i had the car 2 less days, I was able to get all the shipping cost back with a phone call. 35 dollar fix!

Default Step By Step Guide To Replacing Master/Slave Cylinder?

I am having the same issue as I am noticing brake fluid inside the car/driver side. Thinking of buying a rebuild kit.
Is there a Step By Step Pictorial Guide To Replacing Master/Slave Cylinder?

I have seen this one at Clarks:
