well i havent been around in a while and will probably only be lurking for the next few weeks/months. for the last couple of weeks i've been staying in the beach front hilton in cocoa beach florida and working at my companies melbourne facility. after long negotiations we have come to an agreement and i will be relocating down there. so i hopped a flight back to philly friday evening and have been running around like a chicken w/o a head trying to get things cleaned up up here to be back in melbourne by the 12th of this month permenantly. needless to say i've been busy. alot of things have changed in the last 6 months (since this post ) and the next six months are going to be loaded w/ change too. i've now realize, while trying to calculate what mortgage payments i can afford (1st time home buyer), that i have been living cheap for a long time...i'm finally getting the picture of what you guys mean when you say "i'm broke" hehe. i will still be able to afford my 951 vice but the rate of modification will definatly be slower. i'm very excited and feel very positive about this move...it will feel really good to own a home being that my current apartment is a very short tour...theres this room and theres that room hehe.
along w/ being 15 mins from the beach, no snow, and great real estate prices another perk is that the central florida rennlisters are very active... i look forward to meeting you guys in the near future. while down there i had many 944/51 spottings: 5 n/a's, 1 951, and 1 s2 convertible. i must say that the bling bling (not on p-cars) is much more prodominent down there than up here...i'd didnt think that many people were into the 22-24" rims. up here its mostly the body kitted obnoxious exhausted honda's. i saw 22+" wheels on a caprice that at one time was a cop car...very amusing.
anyhow thats what i've been up to. life is good.

On a recent trip to Miami, I was surprised at the amount of bling bling I saw - practically Zero Rice, but the city is inundated with 26 inch chrome (24 inch is sooo last year) on Caddy Escalades.
To the city's credit, I saw MANY nice Pcars. 911 Turbo's grow on Palm Trees down there. Boxsters are Miami's Ford Taurus (and most of them are quite poorly maintained).
Not a single Watercooler spotting though. I figured I'd at least see a nice 928 - a' la Scarface and all....must not be 'blingin' enough.
Congrats on the move!

In other sections it's pure rice town...same with Orlando actually it just depends what area you're in as to what you'll see.

My condolences Being a native Floridian (born in N. Miami Bch), I'm glad to be gone! Too damn hot and the roaches/palmetto bugs (oh, you haven't heard of them?! You're in for a treat!) are big enough and plentiful enough to make life miserable. Enjoy!
(Don't mince words Michelle, how do you REALLY feel?)

MichelleJD is right about the **** roaches in Flordia.
They are really monsters. I had my boat down in the Keys and in Islamorada a roach actually was dragging away a pack of cigarettes off the bar top. Who knows what he wanted to do with it.

You know, you haven't seen palmetto bugs until you live someplace in the south that is coastal and old like Savannah. I grew up and lived in North Palm Beach until I was 18 or 19, but I never saw the number of palmetto bugs as I did when I lived in coastal Georgia. Yikes.
The best thing about them is they sound like a Beechcraft when they fly across the bedroom while you are trying to sleep.
Frankly, they aren't anywhere near as nasty as the little roaches we have up north though. The ones up here aren't as big, but when they are there, they are there in huge numbers.
And you know, it's funny but I didn't miss Florida until about 3 years ago, then something started making me miss the shark fishing right off the beach, and snook fishing in the Jupiter Inlet and bass fishing out in the swampy areas near Pratt and Whitney...
