968 vs 968 CS (Club Sport)
Guys,
I am new to 968 and I am looking to import one from Japan. Some are 968 CS and there is a big price difference (at least $10K).
What is the difference between a CS and a normal 968 (beside the sport seats)? More HP? Lighter weight?
Here a couple of pictures of one available CS

I guess they lowered the ride height by an inch, stiffened the springs and dampers, reduced 50 kg weight by deleting equipment: air-con, power windows, leather seats, heavy hi-fi etc. From what i've read, they were VERY good at handling. It was elected the best handling car in 1993, and 1994. It's also very rare, wich is always a plus. Other than that, i'm not sure. But I know you'd have one awesome 968.

just from Porsche 924/944/968 by Peter Morgan:
clubsports were available in Black, Maritime blue, Guards Red, Grand Prix white and speed yellow.
colourcoded rear spoiler.
Club Sport decal on each side of the body in red, white or black with a no-cost option to delete it.
Had the base cars 17" wheels with 225s front and 255's rear, colourcoded to body colour, otherwise silver.
Engine, brakes and ABS unchanged.
External mirrors manually adjusted, no rear wiper, heated headlamps or roof aerial (unless radio fitted as an option).
360mm steering wheel with no airbag
13.6kg (30lb) colourcoded recaros
manual windows and heater- comfort package = elec windows and mirrors optional
no alarm system- Security package = alarm and locking wheel nuts optional
manual release for hatch only.
performance (officially) unchanged = 0-100kph in 6.5sec, top speed 251kph but was actually 6.3secs and 257kph.
no rear seats but a glass-fibre board instead.
light weight upholstery fitted.
no styling mouldings in engine bay, only one cooling fan and noise insulation removed
Porsche clained they reduced the wiring loom (making electrical upgrading difficult)
Alternator reduced to a 90 amp unit, battery from 36Ah to 63Ah- if A/C was fitted then normal 968 alternator, fans and battery refitted.
weight was reduced 50kg (110lb) to 1320kg (2910lb)
M030 with lsd optional, though the lsd could be ordered separately.

the UK ones were reduced up to 100kg as they fitted a lot of options as standard on base 968's.
the UK market got the 968 Sport as well for 94-95. This was had the stiffer, lower suspension of the CS with the everyday niceties of the base 968. Porsche said the Sport was only 30kg heavier than the CS. it sold well- 306 sports vs 40 coupes/71 cabs for 94-95!

The CS is just slightly lighter, more spartan, lowered, and more expensive! Unless you love having something rare, it would be better to save money and buy a regular 968 and upgrade it with better (and brand new) stuff, IMHO.
I totally love the JDM 968 taillights. If you ever want to switch to American/European taillights, please trade with me.

in 94 and 95 the CS's had a rear seat option, which then added folding front seats for access.
esentially the biggest change was weight, just removal of several items, however over time they were added back as options. i have a book on the 924/944/968 and the varients and racing history of em.
the CS had another version. 2 different CS, i'll say hardcore and softcore. hardcore had no options, and was esentially a track only varient, but still road leagle. softcore had m030 option and rear seats, types of seats. none had leather from what i recall.
it's a really good book. porsche stated that overall times were no different than standard, but reduced weight, maybe a 1/10 or 2.

You can call the dealer and just ask for the decals, maybe they can help you get the part number or help you order them.
