Hi all,
I was getting on to the freeway going from second to third when all of the sudden I lost power and engine died.
I tried everything I could think of jump start, replace the ECU chip with the stock one. It turns over but will not start, and it is getting gas.
Any of you out there every have this happen to you and what did you do to fix it? It seems to be an electrical problem.
Thanks,
Dana Ferguson

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I have ordered a DME/ECU to replace the current one. I am pretty sure this is the problem.... Not a cheap way to find out factory chips are probably the one that should be left in there....

The inexpensive DME *relay* is usually the cause of this, did you get one or just the DME/ECU?
This talks about the relay and the jumper you can use to temporarily replace it:

the jumper wire keeps the fuel pump running all the time so you have to disconnect it when parked.

Just in case it isn't fixed yet, clean your battery terminals and double check that your battery cable is on nice an tight. I had the car die while driving, pulled over, and jiggled the battery cable and it started right back up. Tightened the battery cable bolt and it's been fine since.

Hi,
I replaced the ECU under the floor board and the DME relay in the fuse box, the battery terminal clamps. Next is the coil.
Here is the website I have it posted on so you can see a bit more.

Have you checked the reference/speed sensor connectors at the rear of the intake manifold. They get brittle and crack causing the pins to come loose. Mine backed off coming off the freeway once and it died in place and would just crank but not fire. My son called me and I told him to trying jiggling them. He did this and it started right up again. I put TyRaps on the connections to hold them tight until I repaired them with new connectors.
