I'd forgotten how awesome my car is ...
So I took my '87 944 NA in to get a new set of tires. No fuss, no muss. I kept hearing shouts from the repair bay, into which employees weren't allowed (I was in the waiting room watching Turkey vs. Croatia).
But finally when I went to pick it up, there they were, sitting behind the wheel, or rather taking turns sitting behind the wheel, revving the engine, savoring the exhaust note.
They were also blown away by now light the lugnuts and wheels were. I told them they were aluminum. Ditto the engine block. And the hood. They were blown away! Totally loving the car.
Nice to see it through someone else's eyes once in awhile, y'know? There's more to it than a bottomless to-do list!

Its nice that they like your n/a even if it has the second ugliest front bumper ever conceived, losing by a hair to the front of a bricklin.
I bet one of those guys would simultaneously blow their load and crap themselves if they saw a 951.
then again I sure do miss my 924S. sigh.

May be just me but whenever my car is getting stuff like this done I'm right there watching. Last thing I need is a bunch of grease monkeys commenting "ain't these one of dem porches?" while revving over and over. Especially if its there to get TIRES.

I doubt that its aluminum, no one makes aluminum hood for these cars. They make fiberglass though...

I'd also be pissed. But if you aren't, you probably lead a more peaceful life then all of us, so good for you!
I'm a mechanic at an indy BMW shop. The first few weeks there, I refused to use customer cars for driving to dealerships / running errands. But now I drive customer cars and I don't exactly pamper them. It's human nature - if it's not yours, you don't care as much. So actually what I do is I take the tire shop just my wheels, that way they can't touch the car and I never take my car in for anything, ever, except smog checks.
I like the N.A. N/A front bumper (not as much as the euro one though).

It's definitely a metal of some kind, I know that much.
Oh an the distance they drove it was from the repair bay to the parking lot, around 25 feet, with me watching the whole time.
