Default 944S Intake Manifold Swap

Does anybody know if the intake manifold from a 968 or a 944 S2 can be swapped onto the 944S 16v head?

Might as well put a turbo on there while you are at it.

for someone doing a 944S project, you would think you wouldn't post something like this, regarding a legitimate question.

yes you can swap them.....the S2 and 968 manifold are MUCH more efficient, too. if you had a choice, use a 968 manifold.

I thought about doing this, although the S2 and S will fit to the head no problem, the vacuum routing maybe be different, and I know for a fact that the throttle linkage is different. But it would make for a good project. If you need an S2 intake maifold I have one I can sell you to with the throttle body and TPS.

Well, I might be buying a 2nd motor that is complete & running. This means I'll start to modify the engine on my stand for boost......

So I'm looking into different manifolds just in case this happens

I would think you would loose some torque with either of those manifolds, something an S motor can't afford.

those manifolds are engineered for an engine with .5 liters more displacement, also the 968's fuel map is programmed special for the charactaristics of that manifold - what exactly are you trying to accomplish with just a manifold swap?

First off thanks for the replies. I going to go ahead with the 968 manifold. I'm just going for a more efficient intake manifold than the stock S one. the engine's been rebuilt with head work, cams, exhaust, lindsay chip, and I think a 968 manifold would be a nice change for its more direct flow, and coupled with a cynlindrical high flowing airbox pulling cold air, seems like it'll provide some more power and much better throttle response. Thanks again

Isn't the T-body the most restrictive part?

not on a 944S intake manifold. the most restrictive parts is the manifold's inlet (it's backwards).

does the S throttle body have a coolant line running through it?

No, why did they do that on later cars?

Edit: If you're looking at the pictures above that is an S2 intake manifold, throttle body, and TPS. I think I see what you're looking at, and no it's not a coolant passage.
