FWIW, it was real nice at the top end.
Yeah, past 4200 it just sings. But the only way to drive it around town without feeling gypped on power is to rev high on starts and feather out the clutch... which obviously isn't good for the clutch so I never do that... instead I pull my hair out.

Speaking of 968 low-ends, and manifold swaps, I have always wanted to test drive a 968 with a 951 intake manifold (modded with S2/968 flanges so it will bolt on). Or a custom intake, like for 16v turbo conversions. I just want to see how the plain stock 968 performs when the intake volume is reduced. I imagine it will have more response and less peak torque.

I just realized that the cutaway photo was mirrored/flipped. I wonder why.

I just realized that as well after you pointed it out. Perhaps it was from back in the days of "film" and the negative was flipped?

Good eye!

if you get bored one weekend and find yourself with some extra cash (not likely with a 944-series car lol) you could try to devise an exhaust flapper valve like the Z06 and pick up some torque with that.

The C6 utilizes vacuum actuated valves in the exhaust to keep 2 of 4 exhaust pipes closed at low rpm. The application requires there be more than one exhaust pipe, and the 944/968 has only one.

Thanks! You're probably right - and someone forgot to flip it back, and nobody down the chain noticed.

then maybe you could do half a valve; it blocks half the pipe diameter until the vacuum opens it fully lol...even that much restriction will give you some good torque.

Might be worth trying. Where does one buy those valves?

(Sorry for the OT).
