Default Window motor slow to raise..

Does this usually mean dead motor? It's been getting slower and slower, and i have to help it sometimes now.. I don't see anything obvious, I suppose I could disassemble the whole door but replacing a motor is probably easier.

Has anyone had this and was it the motor?

I think it's on it's way out. My driver's side motor is fairly new and raises quickly, passenger side is original and slow as hell.

I used a little spray silicone on the felt window channels and it helped a little.

Hey Devon.
Is the alternator and charge good on the battery? Sometimes a dip to 11-13V (depending on ignition switch location) can cause a ridiculous slow down on the window motor.
But they do go bad - I replaced my driver side years ago. It was annoyingly time consuming to fit everything inside the door back together, but ultimately it was an easy job to do.
How are things?

Definitely sounds like a window motor is getting tired, replace it and spray some silicone lube in the channels and it will work like new!

Just a quick check, pull the mat up in the trunk and check your ground on the driver side right under the taillight. It could be this ground just getting dirty. Probably not it but it may save you from having to replace the motor.

Slowing down can also be related to the window regulator binding. On my S2 we had to replace the regulator and it's back to normal speed now. They last a very long time though, so you should be able to pick up a decent one from a dismantler, motor included!

My passenger side has been slow for 6 years. In 2006 the car sat most of the year while I did some major work to it. When I got it out in 2007 the right window would not go up or down at all. I removed the motor, disassembled, cleaned, and relubed it. The motor worked fine after I put it back in. It seems the grease the factory had used, somehow dried up creating too much friction in the motor. Maybe mine in paticular was assembled poorly, there was a EXCESSIVE amount of dried up grease inside it.

If you have good voltage to the motor, I would say that is your problem.

what worked for me- pull off the door panel and grease the hinges on the regulator w/ white lithium grease. it's much quicker now.

I just took my door panel off again and jumped it directly from the battery with jumper cables to the motor terminals. It went up plenty fast.

I undid and cleaned the grounds in the trunk, no improvement. Is it possible that it's a less than perfect window switch?

Tried different switches on both driver and passenger side, no dice.

So what does that leave? Unfortunately, the wiring. Have fun with that. At least the parts are cheap
