Default Early 944 will not turn over!

I was driving my 83 944 today and it worked fine. Parked it for a few hours and came out to go somewhere and it clicked but wouldn't turn over. Tried again and it clicked but still would not turn over. Third time and nothing, no click, nothing. So i figured the battery was dead, checked it and it is fully charged. So i have a fully charged battery but when i put the key in the ignition and turn it nothing happens, the interior lights don't light up, stereo doesn't turn on, nothing. I am a little puzzeled by this, any ideas would help.

thanks

make sure the wires on the positive terminal are tight... it happens.

i dont mean the terminal itself now, but the two small cables.

How are you checking the battery?

Try putting the battery under a load, like turning on the headlights, and look at the voltage. If it drops a lot, like say 1v or more, after turning on the lights, your battery is bad.

Not if he does not have interior lights.

It's probably a bad connection at one of the battery terminals or the other end of the ground cable. Remove both cables from the battery and clean the posts and the cable ends. Reinstall with some grease or vaseline on the terminals. If that does not help check the ground cable to body connection.

starter is what I was thinking too. Happened on mine when the positive lead on starter came loose, but I think I still had accessories.

ignition switch may also be culprit.

Also check the DME relay.

There are also some black wires on top of the engine, right by the firewall, that plug in to a metal bracket thing. They may be unplugged even though they look solid. Pop the hood, lean over and press the plugs together real hard.

Happened to me once upon a time, drove me nuts trying to solve it. But I can't remember if that killed the whole car or just the engine.

Go back and check on the terminal cable again especially on the positive side.
Wiggle and tighten it good. You may need to clean it if any corrosion is appa-
rent.
