Child Seat - Can I, or do I keep the BMW?
I know Dave answered this question a few months back, but the archives don't show it, so:
I am assuming I can use my small-ish child seat in any future 944 I decide on, in the back seat. I couldn't fit a rear-facing seat, but forward facing supposedly can be done, especially with my Century STE 1500 seat (small footprint).
Question is, can it be done? Dave??

I put 2 child seats in the rear of my 944. I had to put a tether from the top of the seats to the rear cargo area to keep the seats upright.
Key is finding a seat with a small enough bottom to fit in the rear buckets. My seats were made by century and were purchased several years ago, not sure which model wouid fit now. I have photos of the set up. If you are interested, let me know.

Pete-
Can you send me a (or post) photo? TWO seats (forward facing, I assume)? Excellent. If you can determine the name of the seat manufacturer, that would be cool too!
Thanks!

I occasionally have my 4.5-year-old ride in the back of my car in a booster seat.
Check out my Porsche web page and look at the picture at the bottom if you wish:

My parents often told me of the time when I was a kid of when we moved from Miami to New Hampshire. They drove up in an MG Midget, I was in the back between the seats sitting on my traing seat pottie kind of thing.
My parents were nothing if not efficient.
Ps the MG was yellow

I remember sleeping on the REAR SHELF of my dad's '65 Falcon! I sat in the back seat, lap belted in, from when I was about 4 years old. Till then, my mom held me in her lap in the front seat.
Times have changed!!

I can't remember the car, but I remember sleeping on the back shelf too. Hell I remember looking forward to it
Think it was the Buick.

I remember there were always dead flys on self! I also remember before my dad finally sold that POS, in '78, I looked at the rear shelf, and wondered if I was EVER that small!

"wondered if I was EVER that small!"
I sometimes do that now whenever looking at larger car rear shelves.

My wife runs around in my 84 with my son in the back in his car seat. Hardest thing is getting back there and running the seat belt through his seat.
I rember going on trips with my parents in there 77 Lincoln Town Car 4-door. That thing was so damn big I could lay across the back seat stretched out.

I currently have a forward facing car seat in the back of my car. As mentioned, the key is to find one with a small enough base.
In addition to the teather to the rear, I also use a ratchet type tightening mechanism on the seat belt in conjunction with the thin metal seat belt clip piece that comes with the seat.(I have three point seat belts in the rear of my car). You can get these at Babies R Us.
I was able to put in a rear facing infant seat that had the detachable base - the type that comes with the decked out strollers.
I was not able to put the regular car seat in facing the rear. In NC it is a law that all children under 1 have to be rear facing, but the infant seats are good for only about 20 pounds. For about 3 months I was breaking the law by having my daughter facing forward, but I thought that was better than having her in a car seat that was not rated for her weight.
