Electrical HELP!! Can't shut that gong up.
I have an 87 944S and can't seem to find the short that is causing the gong to go off.
Here is what's happening. The gong keeps on going when I have the driver door open, even though I have the key out. I suspect that is why my sunroof will not unlatch and the power locks won't lock from the inside and my battery is drained if I don't drive it for two or three days.
I've isolated it to the #11 fuse (Thanks Vas Diferens for the instructions), which is for the interior light, truck light, cigarette lighter, gear indicator, glove compartment lighter, trunk lid release switch, buzzer contact - gong relay and clock.
Any help or additional insight on solving this problem or how I can check these things is GREATLY appriciated.

Silly question, but is the door ajar button jammed into its housing? (on the inside of the front of the door jamb.)
I once had that problem on my n/a 85.5. The button had become wedged into the housing, causeing the sensor to break, the wires inside to touch and act like the door was ajar all the time.
It even gonged when no key was in the car.
Just my .02 YMMV

I have a 1987-944S and one day after work I pulled in my garage, turned the car off, pulled out the key and opened the drivers side door and the gong started to go off.I was perplexed as to how this could happen,I checked for lights and all the other things I could think of and no luck.I fooled around for about 30 minutes when I thought maybe it was the ignition switch,I put the key back in and pulled it out and the gong turned off.It is possible to turn the car off and pull out the key without fully seating the switch in the off position, what I mean by this is when you pull the key out the switch should follow the key out, mine was sticking in if that makes sense.Go ahead and put your key in and out a few times and you will see what I mean,it worked for me.

I've had my "gong" go off after removing the key, but it's also happened a couple time when I open the door and get IN the car. It just gongs a few times and then stops. I've only had the car for 6 weeks and I'm concentrating on other things, so I haven't tried to troubleshoot. I'm interested in hearing whatever advice you guys have to give.

Figured it out.
The part of the ignition switch that locks the column has a micro switch to it that triggered when the key is in the ingnition.
Mine is stuck, and the micro switch is constantly tripped. My options are to replace the ignition, or unplug the micro switch. I'll Unplug the switch for now.
Thanks for the help,
Casper.

If I pull on the steering wheel, it stops...
Does yours do that too?

Maybe it's the "loose steering wheel" alarm??

I'm gonna have to agree its the ignition switch...although it doesn't do it all the time. I would figure when I pull the steering wheel it just jolts it or something...maybe its a lose connection even..who knows..
